Dhaka, Nov 5 (UNB) Industries in 74 zones of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) across the country manufactured products worth over Tk 32,201 crore in 2011-12 fiscal year.
This was disclosed at a views-exchange meeting of the high officials, managers and employee leaders of BSCIC industrial zones with State Minister for Industries Omor Faruk Chowdhury at the BSCIC head office in the city.
Of the total products, the value of export-oriented ones was over Tk 18,761 crore. Besides, about 4.56 lakh people were employed till June this year in the BSCIC industrial zones across the country.
The meeting discussed the existing problems and potentials of the small and cottage industry sector and taking area-based programmes for its development.
The state minister assured the delegation of providing adequate assistance from his ministry.
