Britain has lent its support to the government-in-waiting to put 22 million children back in schools, according to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) media cell.

The development comes during a meeting of British High Commissioner Thomas Drew with PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Bani Gala on Wednesday.

He also felicitated Imran on his party’s victory in the July 25 general elections at his .

Drew said that the Department for International Development (DFID) will support the PTI-led government to put more than 22 million out of school children back in the classroom.

Drew acknowledged the Imran’s victory speech, saying: “It has bore positive imprints and created a lot of interest in the UK.”

The British government is ready to support and work with Islamabad, he added.

Speaking at the occasion, the prime minister-in-waiting said that Pak-UK relations are very important because Britain has a huge Pakistani community.

He also expressed his commitment to bring the laundered money back to the country from UK.

Moreover, the envoys of China, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have all called on the PTI chairman since his party emerged as the winner of the July 25 polls.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also called Imran to congratulate him over his party’s victory. PM Modi said that his country is “ready to enter a new era of relations with Pakistan”.

Britain can't even give their own kids a quality education, they should mind their own business and focus on the state of their own schools. UK is beginning to look more and more like a third world country compared to rest of the more developed countries. With increasing numbers of ghettos and minorities suffering from racism the prisons are being filled by ill educated youngsters who have been driven into drugs and crime.

Lol, interesting interpretation of body posture:-

If they want to invest money, sure. If they want a stake in particular schools, no.

We should start moving to self-sufficiency to train a patriotic, religiously literate generation which can resist propaganda of anti-Pakistan groups (whether secular or extremist.)

Repeat of history.

Excellent news ...
but very pathetic and disappointing level of comments on this thread except @Indus Pakistan
Thank you W&R. It okay for people who are well fed and have kids at school because they can overlook all this. Stuff like [below] does not matter to them does it?

"The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is a federal unconditional cash transfer poverty reduction program in Pakistan. Launched in July 2008, it is the largest single social safety net program in the country with nearly Rs. 90 billion ($900 million) distributed to 5.4 million beneficiaries in 2016.[1]

The Department for International Development of the United Kingdom is the largest foreign backer of the program, providing $244 million (or 27%) of the total funds in 2016 with the Pakistani Government providing the rest.[2][3][4]

Sorry, I have no idea or interest about the shit called Benazir support blah blah...

All I care is that every kid in Pakistan gets quality education which requires very good teachers, infrastructure and curriculum. Of course the curriculum will be customised for our particular needs but there are few things that are universal like sciences and mathematics, analytical skills, critical thinking.
I don't rank British education system higher than any better education system like the ones available in Scandinavia and Finland, South Korea and China but still it is a huge upgrade from our Pakistani system and every Tom Dick Harry, who can afford wants to send his kids to a school running under British or American education systems.

IK has a life long mission to improve the education system of Pakistan. When he was selected for the position of chancellor of the Bradford University, his condition was that this university will help him improve the academic standard of NAMAL and that is why Namal still offers genuine British degree

How the hell are they going to put 22m to school, lol freaking joke by Britishers.
Simple. UK already provides 27% or $277 million toward BISP. I read somewhere there is a correlation with children not going to school and poverty. One of ideas being considered that would incentivise poor families to go to school was link payments to childen going to school. For instance no kids at school and Rs1000 is deducted. They go to school Rs1000 is paid. This would create a incentive for poor familes to send their kids to school. I read about this in a UK publication. There was uproar in UK that in times of financial difficulties UK taxpayer money was being doled out to Pakistan.

The BISP was defended by DFID that various studies had shown that the spending was very effective and was reaching the poorest people with minimal loss. One of things mentioned was that UK might increase the support if schooling could be made contingent on BISP payments. Logic was it would enable the younger members of these families to get educated and escape the povery trap.

I also read that of all the various westen funded schemes in developing world BISP was coinsiderd the most effective and least costly. Meaning most of the pound reached the poor whereas other schemes most of the money was siphoned off to consultants and the corrupt. Based on this the UK government despite opposition won the case to continue supporting BISP and contingent on schooling being included to increase UK financial payments. I suspect the ambassador is refering to this because he knows PTI are very concerned about education etc.

Try not to be partisan just because it isa called "Benezir". She is dead long time ago. You let it go when a person dies. My interest is only that poor are being helped despite what it is called.

The English with their Yahudee masters have a very different interior compared to their exterior characteristics. How they convey themselves to the outside world is very different to how they treat their immigrant population. Imran Khan has probably experienced it hence his body language.

Probably create an open prison like that in Gaza.
