ISLAMABAD-British High Commissioner to Pakistan Philip Barton said that he was looking forward for enhancing Pakistan-UK bilateral cooperation with special emphasis on increasing bilateral trade during his tenure.
Philip Barton expressed these views in a meeting with adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad today.
The British High Commissioner said that his country highly valued its ties with Pakistan. Sartaj Aziz highlighted the priorities of the present government for improving the economy and emphasized the need for enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and the United Kingdom by exchanging business delegations.
He appreciated the valuable financial support extended by UK to Pakistan in the education and health sectors.
The PM’s Adviser also thanked the UK for its support in the European Union for Pakistan in granting GSP Plus status to Pakistan‚ which would lead to increase in Pakistan's exports to the EU.
Sartaj Aziz also briefed the High Commissioner on the Government's desire to improve relations with all neighboring countries‚ including India and Afghanistan.
