What about the sizable Pakistan-origin population in the UK? You would think they would be able to flex their political muscle in favor of Pakistan.

Why would I flex my muscle if the public health of my society is at risk ?

Silly considering nations with far worse infection rates are not banned. Let's say Pakistan is lying about how Covid prevalence, the medical fact remains its nations with older populations that suffer more death and infection. Pakistan's population is among one of the youngest in the world, and was cited by the WHO on why Covid was unable to gain a strong foothold in Pakistan.

Even if everything you say is true you need to be credible to be taken seriously.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only countries with polio cases. Countries with worse civil wars, poorer sanitation and lower economic standards have done better.

It is not clear why too many British Pakistanis wants to risk their lives by travelling.

If Britain was truly serious about public health, they should put both Bangladesh and India on the list as well since their infection rates are also skyrocketing. It looks like this decision was made on matters unrelated to protecting public health but economics.

Let's face it. Banning Pakistan for anything is low-hanging fruit these days.
