Breakthrough in the wind tunnel test of 10000 km/h(Mach 10) scramjet

. .
The significance is the wind tunnel, which allows them to repeatedly test and adjust the hypersonic scramjet design on the ground, in a highly cost effective way.

So the competitors must invest on similar infrastructure to catch up.

I hope it can help bankrupt the competitors sooner.

.
Great achievement and congratulations
Under standard atmospheric conditions, 10000 kph is not Mach 10...rather it is
Mach = 8.16 which is still a very high Mach
For Mach 10, the speed of the object should be 12249.46 km/hr. I think they simplified figures for consumption of common people..

For fun, if the test was conducted at -81.113 C then it will be at Mach 10 at 10,000 km/hr :)

Agreed.

Guys sitting in the front rows want something that could reach the US west coast in less than 14 minutes.

China builds world's fastest wind tunnel to test weapons that could strike US within 14 minutes

China is building the world's fastest wind tunnel to simulate hypersonic flight at speeds of up to 12 kilometres per second.

A hypersonic vehicle flying at this speed from China could reach the west coast of the United States in less than 14 minutes.

Zhao Wei, a senior scientist working on the project, said researchers aimed to have the facility up and running by around 2020 to meet the pressing demand of China's hypersonic weapon development programme.

"It will boost the engineering application of hypersonic technology, mostly in military sectors, by duplicating the environment of extreme hypersonic flights, so problems can be discovered and solved on the ground," said Zhao, a deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of High Temperature Gas Dynamics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

The ground tests will significantly reduce the risk of failure when test flights of hypersonic aircraft start.

The world's most powerful wind tunnel at present is America's LENX-X facility in Buffalo, New York state, which operates at speeds of up to 10 kilometres per second – 30 times the speed of sound.

Hypersonic aircraft are defined as vehicles that travel of speeds of Mach 5, five times the speed of sound, or above.

The US military tested HTV-2, a Mach 20 unmanned aircraft in 2011 but the hypersonic flight lasted only a few minutes before the vehicle crashed in to the Pacific Ocean.

In March China conducted seven successful test flights of its hypersonic glider WU-14, also known as the DF-ZF, at speeds of between Mach 5 and Mach 10.

Other countries including Russia, India and Australia have also tested some early prototypes of the aircraft, which could be used to deliver missiles including nuclear weapons.

"China and the US have started a hypersonic race," said Wu Dafang, professor at the school of aeronautic science and engineering at Beihang University in Beijing who received a national technology award for the invention of a new heat shield used on hypersonic vehicles in 2013.

Wu has worked on the development of hypersonic cruise missiles, a near space vehicle, high-speed drones and other possible weapons for the People's Liberation Army.

He said there were a number of hypersonic wind tunnels in mainland China which had helped ensure the high success rate of its hypersonic weapon tests.

The new wind tunnel will be "one of the most powerful and advanced ground test facilities for hypersonic vehicles in the world", said Wu, who was not involved in the project.

"This is definitely good news for us. I look forward to its completion," he added.

I hope all Chinese Top Scientist are WISE and SMART enough and avoiding Travel & Stop Over in all nations that are known to be friendly to United ShxxxHxxx americun and its Slaves.

They all will be ASSASSINATED like this CHN scientist

10000km/h is the velocity of airflow in which burning of fuel takes place.

The airflow has been decelerated before entering the combustion chamber. :)

Worth pointing out that such hypersonic vehicles travel full flight within the earth's atmosphere and that makes it very hard to be intercepted by today's intercept systems.

Hummmm we already have successfully flight tested hyper sonic vehicle in real test. What about China?

Fives Years ago 2014 China first tested with a real hypersonic missile vehicle, and since then numerous tests have been successfully done. India tested a scramjet engine attached to a Sounding Rocket in 2016.

Pentagon confirms test of aircraft, dubbed the WU-14 and intended to hit targets at speeds of Mach 10

China has for the first time tested a hypersonic missile vehicle designed to travel several times the speed of sound, according to the Pentagon.

The test makes China the second country after the United States to conduct experimental flights with hypersonic vehicles, a technology that could allow armies to rapidly strike distant targets anywhere around the world.

"We're aware of the test of the hypersonic vehicle but we are not commenting on it," said Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Pool, a Pentagon spokesman.

The flight was conducted on 9 January and the Chinese vehicle, dubbed the WU-14, is supposed to travel at Mach 10, or 10 times the speed of sound, according to a report in the Washington Free Beacon, an online publication.

The Chinese state-run broadcaster China Radio International quoted the defence ministry information office as saying: "China's planned domestic scientific research and experiments are normal and are not aimed at any country or target."

It did not explicitly confirm or deny the test.

In its annual report on China's military the Pentagon made no mention of hypersonic test flights but did say the Chinese had built a hypersonic wind tunnel for experiments.

China's surging economic power has been matched by increasing military might, including investments in an aircraft carrier, anti-ship ballistic missiles, satellites and other hardware.

Three Republican lawmakers including the House armed services committee chairman, Howard "Buck" McKeon, expressed concern over the test of what they called a "Chinese hypersonic cruise missile" and said the US military was falling behind.

"While round after round of defence cuts have knocked America's technological advantage on its back, the Chinese and other competitor nations push toward military parity with the United States; in some cases, as in this one, they appear to be leaping ahead of us," they said.

"This situation does nothing to support peaceful coexistence in the Pacific," added the statement, also signed by representatives Randy Forbes and Mike Rogers.

The US has placed a high priority on hypersonic projects, spending $200m in the 2013 fiscal year on three programmes while conducting a number of test flights.

Ofcoures, I can not only shw you the news but I can attach here with a paper providing full detail of rail gun, all its scientist calculations and actual results achieved against planned results and its graphs etc. Only condition is that you have to do the same. Attach a paper from any Chinese institutions showng the same experiment and analysis of its result.

I can post here a video of our scramjet engine live test. Can you do that? Accept both the challenges or go away like a loser like you do every time.

We did it much earlier. Does china did it using Scremjet engine? Hypersonic glide vehicle is an ordinary technology in today's context. If is done using scermjet technology, it is remarkable.
I just told you China did not achieve any scram jet nor rail gun advancement, it was the Pentagon and West who keep on saying we achieved it.:enjoy:

But I am interested in India leading these technologies since 1980. Can I see the finished product btw? 40 years and it's not mounted on a ship? Make sure you attach the dates yah.
Btw, no papers nor speeches, we only have the hard product on a ship apparently. Indians are very good in theory doing decades of research which end up with no real result. =)

Please leave out all speculative Indian superiority and dick-measuring contests here. If you want to discuss India's achievements in this fields then fine in the Indian section but PLEASE not here ... and when doing so, then give proof.

Otherwise here it is off topic and politically.
