CARACAS (Reuters) - Drones loaded with explosives detonated close to a military event where Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was giving a speech on Saturday, but he and the rest of the government escaped unharmed in what Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez said was an “attack” against the leftist leader. Seven National Guard soldiers were injured, Rodriguez added.

A broadcast by Maduro was cut short during an outdoor speech at a military event in Caracas and soldiers were seen running before the televised transmission was cut off.

While Maduro was speaking about Venezuela’s economy, the audio suddenly went and he and others on the podium looked up, startled. The camera then panned to scores of soldiers who started running, before the transmission was cut.

Venezuela is living under the fifth year of a severe economic crisis that has sparked malnutrition, hyperinflation and mass emigration.

OPEC member Venezuela’s once-thriving socialist economy has collapsed since the 2014 fall of oil prices.

Last year, rogue police officer Oscar Perez hijacked a helicopter and fired at government buildings in what he said was an action against a dictator. Perez was hunted down and killed by Venezuelan forces in January.

A National Guard captain, Juan Carlos Caguaripano, early last year attacked a military base with a group of current and former military officials. He was captured soon after.

It will be blamed on the Yanks when it’s probably a false flag op.

Someone with a sane mind.

Maduro is a mad dictator and the sooner he is killed, the better. He made Venezuela...one of richest countries in the world an absolute poverty house.
Why are interfering into other countries internal affairs. If someone applies the same approach to your country, then you won't be happy.

Lol he didn’t make Venezuela a poverty house. Socialism and isolationist policies made Venezuela a poverty house. No one to sell their oil too, no oil companies except their own which doesn’t even make a profit anymore. Hugo Chavez set Venezuela up for failure when he left with socialism.

SOCIALISM NEVER WORKS.

If my country would be ruled by Maduro i would invite evry other nation to help us get rid of him.

True in a way. What we see now in Venezuela is the final form of socialism.

Yes, that’s a because there was no oil money to fund the economy. No oil money = no growth

Wrong.

Chavez and Maduro took all money and gave it their goons. The oil platforms started to rot away. There was zero investments. Same on the agriculture. A country like venezuela...cant even produce sugar anymore.

Can you imagine systematic failure on that scale? Venezuela has perfect climate and extreme efrtile soils. They have no agriculture left. Chavez took the farms from their owners and gave them collectivist groups who have no clue about farming.

He could cover this by importing large masses of food. But then the oil price collapsed and the result is teh collapse of venezuela.

Its socialism at work.

Actually a country like Venezuela could have still survived with its abundant oil reserves even if there was rampant corruption like you speak of. The only reason it’s in the position it is right now is because of Chavez banishing all foreign investment from out of the country not to mention an anti-Western approach. When your country is literally dependent on importing oil to Western countries it’s not really smart to have an anti-West foreign policy.

Venezuela is dying because of socialism and terrible foreign policy.
