President Donald Trump has told some members of Congress that he is considering military action in Syria in retaliation for this week's chemical attack, and recognizes the seriousness of the situation, a source familiar with the calls tells CNN.

The source said the President had not firmly decided to go ahead with it but said he was discussing possible actions with Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Trump is relying on the judgment of Mattis, according to the source.

US officials tell CNN the Pentagon has long-standing options to strike Syria's chemical weapons capability and has presented those options to the administration.

The sources stressed a decision has not been made.

Great....just what the Syrian people need...more bombings.

If it was a case of 'decapitation' - target Assad and take him out - fine. But, that's not going to happen.

:(

LOL What does Trump intend to bomb? The Russians? The Assad regime? After all, the Western world has scapegoated both.

We'll see how bold Trump is. Words are cheap.

The US would likely target Syrian air defenses, aircraft, air bases, and their chemical weapon production facilities. Thereby, denying the Syrians the capability to deliver chemical weapons.

On one hand they are blocking Muslims in US and on other hand they are going to hit Assad govt for the sympathy of Muslims dying there..
whats going on...

Without investigation who declared that these chemical weapons used?
Many Muslims are dying in Myanmar.. so similar steps he is going to take?

It concludes that this is only war for "OIL" they just want to kill Muslims and grab their OIL and resources..

This just once again shows the US President has no power. Only a certain subset of wealthy people have the final say. Not even pathetic Congress members can make a decision, they're all bribed by the actual power structure to bring forward a policy decision. Trump is surrounded by these 'establishment' type.

They are fooling the Arab people. All the US would do if it took action, is limit regime aerial ability. To keep both sides from being able to make gains, then try using the diplomatic options forming a new government of people nobody in Syria chose or prefer or even know about. This gov't would be no different than any other gov't in the Arab world.

The Arab people need to realize, that what they're envisioning for whatever arena, will not be granted to them by anybody else other than them. They have to want it and fight for it.

Trump going full neo-con on this is very worrying, all through the campaign, his unflinching stance on not being an interventionist was his strongest point.

What's he going to do, bomb Syrian airbases ? what if he hits some Russian equipment/personnel ? :undecided:

like he suddenly switched sides and went from anti terror to pro saudi and their terrorist rebels.

we'll have to wait and see what comes of this but the nasty warmonger rhetoric and buildup is what the world expected crooked hillary to do, they didn't elect him for this.

SAD !

This is a 180 degree turn. Putin won't be very happy. They tried a no fly zone but their own general said the implication of that would be war with Russia. Same could be said about attacking Assad directly.

In my first post in the thread I mention Trump is powerless. Read that post for reference. Now I continue off that, to show you Arab's and Arab's Muslims living in the West, that you are being played. The objective is what I stated in my initial post. So now that something outside of the objective was suggested, the real 'establishment' power structure responds:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/04/06/boris-johnson-not-rush-war-against-assad-syria/

More statements will come out soon.

yeap, quite something, isn't it ?

but the guy is also a master media manipulator and an accomplished showman of some pedigree.

could it be that he's only blowing hot air and exploiting this situation to appear to be a boss, all to deflect from all the bad media coverage lately.. Russian collusion/his failed attempt at healthcare reform and the immigration bans that were upturned etc ?

Bannon got the boot from his security council (they're in fire control mode and pretending all is ok but it could be just all smoke and no fire there too)

McCain and co were cheering the loudest when Flynn was replaced by McMaster...

not sure what to make of this, is it a neocon/establishment takeover and purge of the Trump agenda/administration or is he just using this to deflect the media spotlight on his failures... ? :undecided:

You do realize that by targeting these assets you are violating the Russian nexus? We'll see though what Trump is made out of. We have heard many promises from orange baboon, but not many have been delivered.

LOL The reality striking home after all.

Don't do it Trump. Stand up to the neocons. Remember what these bearded psychopaths did in New York. Don't help them.
