(CNN) LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

• [5:22 a.m. ET] Two Malian citizens and a French citizen have died in the incident, a U.N. official said.
• [5:15 a.m. ET] At least seven Chinese guests are among those held hostage, Chinese media reported
• The gunmen arrived in a diplomatic vehicle
• No group has claimed responsibility

According to trapped Chinese tourists communicating through Weibo, those who can recite Quran (能够背诵《可兰经》的部分人质被释放) are released by the gunmen.

Brown folks should be ok, grow a beard, shout allah hu akbar a few times. These Jihadis don't know much about Quran themselves, so remembering a few popular verses should do the trick, or atleast increase the chances of survival. This could be a good game show in the Islamic State.
