Breaking News! Bangladesh China signed a contract worth $ 1 billion For BAF

Maybe. But it definitely is plausible for several reasons.

1) Bangladesh is a traditional client of China.
2) BAF has an active need for more 4th gen multiroles.
3) The previous purchases of F-7BG and BGI were stated stop gaps.
4) If there really is a purchase of Flankers, theses Firebirds would be a perfect complement.
5) The improved economy of Bangladesh may well support this package.
6) The composition of the package is very reasonable and fulfills stated needs that the BAF has.
7) This is a win-win for China in that it increases it influence further in BD.
8) First exports of Y-20 and J-10.
9) Bangladesh has in the past supposedly sought F-16s which the US obviously laughed off.

As you can see, there are a variety of reasons that this rumor is possible if not likely.

Makes real Sense!

Did I just see butt-hurt ?

No, it is actually happening somewhere in between Pakistan and Bangladesh, a state which is getting its influence going down the gutter all thanks to Modi.

NOTE: Sad that the Hasina couldn't satisfy her masters and all their investment in her is brining them no good.

you think if hasina was really into satisfying her masters... we would be getting anything remotely chinese? most probably we would be getting sub standard crude indian weapons

.
Rather, i hope that its the J-10B instead of the J-10A.

Major disappointment if it would be the -A model.

Almost certainly J-10b with the new air-cooled AESA radar that China has just developed.
China will not allow export just yet of the latest J-10c with 5th gen avionics and stealth coatings.

1 Billion mei itna kuch? [emoji27]

.
Neither did we offer it.
ofc only something worthy of being offered is ever offered by the sellers.

It is designed for the AF, not the Navy.
you dont send something for trials to the navy to get rejected if it wasnt even intended for it.

That's why 120 of it is ordered by the IAF ?
because else any future support for the similar program is gone...

I just love how Bangladeshis, who can't design a decent moped engine are deriding Indian weapon systems. Don't worry, our systems are & would be far better than anyhing Bangladesh can ever afford.
shouldn;t have sent your defence minister to make us buy some of your patrol boats.
we make our own for years now.

i am sure the b fleet can be upgraded to something similiar to c standard in the future.... conformal fuel tanks are add on units after all....

AS if Bangladesh could afford anything good without a massive loan.

Haha, don't change the goal post. IAF ordered Mk1A without a second thought.

Navy never did trials on it, it was the ADA. It is a tech demonstrator for carrier based aircraft.

That's all you can do. Not even a corvette.
why would we even if we could afford it when that money can be prioritised into building toilets unlike in your country.

politics, else it would be blamed on the politicians like the marut program.

and the tech demonstrator didn;t remotely make the navy chief say anything good about the aircraft...

dont mind us... corvette building is to start soon along with the frigate... we already have paperworks of what we want... now is the time of when to commence building.

Well, I think it's the general Bangladeshi people reaction of Hasina going to India and trying to buy their things which have caused her to buy Chinese equipment to keep a good image of herself in the people and not to portray herself in front of the people as a puppet to Indians.

On these few reports I have made my assumption.

The details of the defence agreement are not known but according to news reports from Dhaka, India wanted a 25-year long agreement that the Hasina government was not prepared to sign. Ranganathan however denied this, saying such agreements are generally signed for a five-year period and are reviewed by both sides for further extension if need be. Apart from the framework MoU on defence, the other agreement will be sourcing defence suppliers from India.

This means Delhi will begin supplying equipment to Bangladesh. Defence research and development will also be one part of the component. But those opposed to the Awami League are uncomfortable with a defence agreement. "There is deep resentment about the possibility of a defence pact, because it does not make sense for Bangladesh. For a smaller neighbour, the thought that there will be a Big Brother looking over your shoulder at all times isn't welcome," Fazal Kamal, a prominent Bangladeshi analyst said.

Bangladesh sources much of its military hardware from China – something India is wary off. Its recent purchase of two Chinese submarines raised hackles in Delhi with some Indian defence analysts even asking why Bangladesh needed submarines at all.

Bangladesh military officials are not keen on purchasing defence hardware from India, believing that India’s own reliance on military imports suggests it has few quality products of its own to offer.

They point to the poor quality of equipment India supplied to Nepal and Myanmar, while admiring Chinese equipment for being cheap and easy to use.

Singapore military hack ‘probably state sponsored’
But India is now willing to offer a US$500 million line of credit to Bangladesh for the purchase of military hardware. Bangladesh might welcome that and could use the funds for purchasing fast patrol craft for its coastguards and radar for its air defence.

Hasina is unwilling to push the military in this regard. “On issues of defence, she would like to go by the military’s advice,” said one of Hasina’s top advisers who did not want to be identified.

Bangladesh has a history of military coups, beginning with the assassination of Hasina’s father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of her family in 1975. Civil-military relations have matured in recent years but Hasina still does not like to cross the line and prefers to go by the military’s advice on defence issues.

What do you say?

.
Banglas should not waste so much money on military. Spend wisely.

. . .
False logic.

You dont know how much China will charge BD
for these planes. China is not engaged in BD for
short-term profit.

Y-20 designer says local engine will be installed next year or in 2019. 1 to BD will make little
difference for China that's needs hundreds for
itself.
whatever floats your boat.
