“Huge reserves”??? Did Pakistan hit 50 billion barrel of high quality crude or what??

Let the details come out. We all know how dramatic media makes such small things.

Even 500 million barrel of crude oil is very minute discovery when it comes to oil wealth. Would not change our economic faith or revolutionize our energy markets

Unfortunately we have seen too many news pieces in the past saying "huge discovery", "massive discovery" etc. I would rather wait and let the oil and gas experts talk first. Mainstream media loves to hype without any evidence.

Pakistan has plenty of hydrocarbon reserves, however, it takes plenty of investment and expertise to survey them and extract them and transport them ECONOMICALLY.

Please for the sake of our people's sanity please do not say anything unless the gas/oil is the damn end of the supply chain i.e. in the national system.

Than there is the fear of Dutch Disease. I am all for hoping but staying realistic will save us much agony in both short and long term.

It is not yet finalized but initial estimates driven in Jan were of gas reserves larger than Qatar ...

However, final estimates will take atleast 3 more weeks ...

Reserves are almost confirmed the real test is of the quality composition which will set the cost and commercial viability

Pakistan should use oil to power vehicles, natural gas for heating and cooking to minimize demand of electricity. If used sustainably, Thar coal can last tens of thousands of years.
