Brazil is planning to help Bangladesh to make its football better as its government is impressed by the “incredible” fanbase of the five-time world champions during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Brazilian Ambassador in Dhaka Joao Tabajara de Oliveira Junior said he along with the three journalists that the embassy has brought from the Rio de Janeiro to see the “impressive” supporters, would meet the sports ministry officials on Thursday to discuss possible collaboration.

Bangladesh is currently ranked 194 in the world by FIFA.

“I’ll be pleased to hear from them what can we do for football between Brazil and Bangladesh,” he said at the press briefing on Wednesday where the journalists of Brazil’s largest broadcaster Globo TV shared their experiences in Bangladesh.

He said they are ready to support building a football academy in Bangladesh if asked. But first, he said, they are planning to bring professionals like former football star Zico to Bangladesh.

“We have talked with him already and he said he is available after the World Cup and he will be pleased to visit Bangladesh,” Oliveira Junior said.

“I never saw something like what we saw here,” Clayton Conservani, a reporter who has traveled to many countries including those in Africa, said.

“I passed through many many African countries and they just know our players…but there was no passion like what we see among people supporting Brazil here,” he said.

They had gone to Manikganj and Chattogram and will be in Narayanganj on June 22, Conservani added.

“I did not expect such craziest fans,” he said, “It’s incredible to see the love of our football here”.

The journalist said during their visits in past five days, they felt like being home here with Brazilian flags all around and people painting their faces with Brazil’s national colours.

They also noticed the presence of Argentina supporters as people in Bangladesh are sharply divided between loyalties for the two Latin American giants in World Cup competitions.

Conservani is accompanied by producer Igor Abreu and cameraperson Mikael Bento. The aim of their visit is to broadcast the support that the Brazilian national football team receive from Bangladesh people in the World Cup.

He said they would give a complete idea to Brazilian people about what is happening in Bangladesh.

The ambassador said football has brought the two countries, some 16,000 kilometers apart, “closer”.

“We have plans to do even more in future,” he said, adding that the visit of the journalists is “just the beginning”.

“They are the catalyst of talks and possible cooperation between the two countries’ football,” Oliveira Junior said.

Bangladesh should focus on significantly improving in cricket before needlessly trying to improve a 194th ranked Football team. Improving that ranking to international tournament standards will take multiple lifetimes in my opinion based on where they are ranked right now among the entire world; even if they get help from Brazil or whatever.

We can set a realistic target of coming into top 100 in 10-15 years and by 2050 within top 50. Instead of not doing anything.

Top 100 in 10 to 15 years is not realistic at all. Brazil helping out won't make much a difference, even Maradona would never be able to make such a huge turn around. In general Bangladeshi people, genetically speaking are just extremely short statured and lack muscle mass to even compete in upper tier football. Just look at the Bangladesh cricket team, the team is 100% full of scrawny little players, till this date none of these players have been able to produce a robust look like that you see among the other top cricket nations like England, South Africa and Australia. Even Indian players and Pakistani cricket players are much more robust looking than us. What do you know they are ahead of us in cricket still; Despite going through a rebuilding phase Pakistan is still ahead of us in Cricket. I honestly think there is a positive correlationship between cricket batting performance and physique.

Soccer is much more physical than cricket is, our Bangladeshi players will never be able compete with other nation players when it comes to winning headers for the purpose of passing and scoring because we will ultimately lack size/height and strength.

Again this is a nutrition problem that you’re talking about, (yes genetics certainly also plays a role, but Bangladesh’s people have this inherent lack of quality nutrition) I don’t see why in the future that won’t change, Chinese people are much taller nowadays with good muscle mass... thanks to the improvements in lifestyle quality.

But the good quack homo doctor here says Bangladeshis are the most nutritionally sound people ever now....because fish diet and BAL chetona numbers about the massive supply (that evil FAO for some reason disputes).

Brazil will train coaches along with school students of Bangladesh to help the country improve its football.

State Minister for Sports Biren Sikder revealed the development after a meeting with Brazillian Ambassador in Dhaka Joao Tabajara de Oliveira Junior at the Secretariat on Thursday.

Biren said Brazil provide training at school-level football under a social programme in China.

“Similarly, they want to work with the government to take Bangladesh’s football forward. We’ve invited them to visit BKSP (national sport institution),” he said.

“They have agreed in principle to help us with training for coaches. We’ll sit again to discuss the issue,” he added.

The state minister also said the government was eager to start the programme at BKSP.

On Wednesday, Oliveira Junior said Brazilian government was planning to help Bangladesh to make its football better as they were impressed by the “incredible” fanbase of the five-time world champions during the ongoing 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“I never saw anything like what we saw here,” Clayton Conservani, a journalist who was brought along with two others by the embassy from Rio de Janeiro to see the “impressive” supporters in Bangladesh.

Can’t speak for all of the 160 million people but an average Bangladeshi is certainly having more protein in their diet now than they had in post Pakistan era.

Stop derailing every thread here you stupid m......... Get this through your thick deluded Endian skull, no one likes you here. Don’t you have any shame? Low class cheap scumbag. Why do yoy feel bitter and jealous about anything BD related here? Seems like your live revolves around this section on forum. Haven’t you got anything better to do?
Shameless beggar begging for Bangladeshi attention on BD section. Because you own kinds look down on you from North. Don’t blame them.

Mods should ban this obnoxious deluded bigot permanently.

Does that really matter brother? Someone was arguing with me during 2002 world Cup that Bangladesh will play 2010 world Cup .
He was over confident.

It will take time. Nothing works like magic and results quickly. Good thing is that Brazil can help install the culture of football again properly. Which will start inspiring youngsters to aspire to be footballers. The main thing is getting the vibe, flavour around in the proper ways. Atm there isn’t much good initiatives for youngsters to take up football, nor is there much money to he made as there is in cricket with BPL and DPL. Football needs a lift, BFF hasn’t done a good job at all and has taken it more backwards. Hopefully with the Brazil contributions, people will be inspired, eager, more hungry to impress and do the right things to be fit etc etc. Then slowly it will become fruitful in the long run. First things first.

I'm 6ft; my twin sisters are 5"5 and 5"6. We're only this height because my mom's side of the family has some tall people. I was born in Canada, but my parents are having a hard time finding a North American born and brought up Bangladeshi girl that's at least 5"5:( I'm assuming all these girls that did not make my cut, have had a nutritionally fulfilling diet.

I see Chinese people everyday, they are for the most part still as tiny as Bangladeshis are.

Fair enough. BD needs to keep improving and not be so subservient to its govt propaganda though.

You are one of the few here to remain well off the groupthink chetona plantation. Kudos. Hence your reply just gets one thanks, whereas the triggered one below it gets the groupthink applause :D @Gibbs

Just stay off the tube yeah? Your type doesn't do well when the combination of chetona-emotional anger (or its jamati equivalent) + incompetence + access to whatever trigger mechanism abounds:
