ISLAMABAD:

Days after at least 12 people were killed in poll violence by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the use of brute military might against innocent people who refused to participate in the recent sham state elections cannot suppress their human urge for freedom.

“Kashmir is a paradise inhabited by citizens who have been consistently deprived of their right to decide about their fate,” he was quoted as saying in a statement released by the Prime Minister Office.

“There is hope for the people of Kashmir in this moment of immense distress and grief that their march towards freedom is unstoppable,” he added.

In regard to the international community’s role, the premier said it has to stop these atrocities by Indian military machinery through preventive diplomacy and must allow the Kashmir dispute to be resolved through a just and sustainable settlement.

Easter day message

The prime minister reassured members of Christian community and all other minorities that Pakistan belonged to them and stressed that the country’s peace and prosperity was in the unity of all Pakistanis.

“It is a moral and national obligation of our nation to protect the constitutional rights of each and every Christian and all other minorities, living in Pakistan as enshrined in our Constitution,” he said in a message on the Easter.

He extended his heartiest felicitations to the Christian citizens on the occasion of their religious festival, Easter.

“I wish our Christian brothers and sisters living in Pakistan the happiness and joys of Easter,” he was quoted as saying.

The premier further noted with appreciation that Pakistani Christians were playing an important role in the progress and development of the country.

“We deeply appreciate and are indebted to their valuable contributions and services towards our collective national objective of securing a truly strong, progressive and stable Pakistan,” he added.

Why does he not release P-0-K from Pakistan and integrate it with India and conduct a fair election as UN ordered?

. .
seriously?

Read UN mandate.

The final resolution adopted had two parts. The first part increased the Commission's strength to five members and asked it to proceed to the Indian subcontinent at once to mediate between India and Pakistan. The second part dealt with the Security council's recommendations for restoring peace and conducting a plebiscite. This involved three steps.[5][6]

  • In the first step, Pakistan was asked to use its "best endeavours" to secure the withdrawal of all tribesmen and Pakistani nationals, putting an end to the fighting in the state.
  • In the second step, India was asked to "progressively reduce" its forces to the minimum level required for keeping law and order. It laid down principles that India should follow in administering law and order in consultation with the Commission, using local personnel as far as possible.
  • In the third step, India was asked to ensure that all the major political parties were invited to participate in the state government at the ministerial level, essentially forming a coalition cabinet. India should then appoint a Plebiscite Administrator nominated by the United Nations, who would have a range of powers including powers to deal with the two countries and ensure a free and impartial plebiscite. Measures were to be taken to ensure the return of refugees, the release of all political prisoners, and for political freedom.

Its all "India".Only thing Pakistan was asked to perform was to withdraw.

Follow these steps in the region you control and be done with it. Why oppress poor Kashmiris when they demand it.

That mandate was given to both India and Pakistan. And we're conducting voting for last 68 years in kashmir.

A 70 year old resolution means monkey balls

Azad Kashmir and GB are 100% muslim and hate Indian's and you want us to intergrate a area of muslims into a hindutva state
There is no issue in Azad Kashmir and GB they are a muslim state part if a Muslim country

The only problem is indian occupied Kashmir where the people are rising up because they don't want to be part of a Hindu banana republic

Will of Kashmiris is not important.Resistance is futile. They will be assimilated after Article 370 is abolished and people from UP and Bihar invade the valley for cooler climates.

No wonder why they throw stones at your army.

Far better than our neighbourhood where already 50K+ died and 1 million displaced.Atleast ours are throwing stones rather than blowing themselves up.

Everything that is not in favor of Pakistan is "Monkey Balls" for Pakistanis..

I still remember Bhutto tearing papers in filmy style in UN during 71 war,Only to surrender.

But what funny is,every Bhutto,Jinnah and Shariff in Pakistan is uttering the same resolution to conduct plebiscite.

Nothing will happen to change the status of Kashmir. Basically, we have used soft hands to deal with stone pelters so far, thankfully they crossed the line and there is widespread public support for giving a befitting reply. It looks bad but actually, in the long run, this will help. We should use brute force and we will crush them, Pakistan can fancy their chances as they are doing for 60 years but nothing will change.
