bro they been doing that since the daddy age, navy seals does it sas does it airgaurd of asf does it where their is guy sitting in the room with 2 targets on each side of him and they shoot live rounds, its not stupidity its training same thing with the european specops that serve as air gaurds do it cuz you need to be proficient and confident in small and confined places specially an aircraft where thiers people every where and hijackers MY Dad and uncle Went through the same thing When he got his Tab in asf he tells me they use to call every one commando at first mocking them and when they go through this and shoot 2 targets double tap under 3 sec they get the tab and then they call them coudo, i dont know if the tradition is still their My dad retired though his rank was a Cresent and Star only when he ritired from asf i think that is like a major's rankThere is a very thin line between bravery and stupidity, he was lucky enough to pull it off, hence brave, balls of steel, the boss, had he been unlucky he would have been a fool.

this army business is all about life and death, to me the entire exercise was to show the precision of SSG training and guts shown in the matter of life and death, makes one fearless
obviously the guy trusted the shooter, when you are a commando you need to develop certain skills which stands out
to you maybe one shouldnt be fool enough to join army and be willing to lay down his life
To control your nerves in a situation of danger.
That is what I believe.
