BRAHMOS attracts high-level delegates at IDEX 2011 - Brahmand.com

The BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile system has attracted many high-level delegates, including from the Middle East region, during the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2011 at Abu dhabi.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, visited the BrahMos Aerospace pavilion at the IDEX on Wednesday.

He was briefed about the supersonic cruise missile system and its various capabilities by company CEO and MD Dr. A S Pillai.

BrahMos Aerospace is participating in the 10th edition of the International Defence Exhibition 2011.

The BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile system has a range of up to 290 km with a maximum speed of 2.8 Mach. The missile can be launched from multiple platforms including land, sea, sub-sea and air.

While the Indian Army and Navy have already inducted the missile system in their arsenal, the Indian Air Force is getting ready to equip its SU-30MKI fighters with the powerful missiles in near future.

When will Brahmos get the time to fulfill export orders ??/ Have you seen the demand of domestic orders ??/ Not to mention within few years newer and newer version of Brahmos will arrive and with them will come the new orders. Wow...I think Brahmos doesnot need export orders, India's huge appetite for this missile is enough.

.
Indian orders is around 1000, while they expect to export around 2000 of them.

Ambitious export figures, lets see how they achieve them.

Why do you ask the question?

An anti-ship cruise missile which can also be used to take out land based targets is certainly an asset for any military.

Many militaries that need that kind of firepower already make indigenous supersonic ASMs, and subsonic ASMs.

Very good.

But not all countries many supersonic anti-ship CM's.

So why cant we offer Brahmos to such countries?

For example, say Indonesia, Malaysia etc.
