A six-year-old boy has reportedly been beheaded in Saudi Arabia after his attackers discovered he was a different sect of Islam to them. The shocking incident is said to have been carried out with a broken bottle in front of his horrified mother as they visited a shrine of Prophet Muhammad in Medina. Witnesses said that the little boy – named locally as Zakaria al-Jaber- and his mother arrived at the site in a taxi and were approached and asked if they were Shia Muslim, to which they replied: ‘Yes’. The little boy and his mother were visiting a Mosque in Media, Saudi Arabia (Picture: Getty) Minutes later, a car pulled up beside them and one of the occupants ripped him away from her and attacked him with a broken glass as she watched and screamed. She was seen trying to save her son, but collapsed on the street. A nearby police officer also reportedly tried to help but failed. Shia Rights Watch, a Washington DC-based human rights group, said there has been no intervention from the Saudi Authorities so far. They added that the Shia community in Saudi Arabia are in mourning for Zakaria amid ongoing incidents which sees the government failing to protect its Shia citizens.
