PESHAWAR: At least thirty people have been killed and over 100 injured in a bomb explosion in Karachi Bazaar, part of Khyber market nearing NWFP assembly here in Peshawar on Friday morning, police sources said.

According to hospital sources, 30 people have lost their lives while scores others have been injured, meanwhile, emergency has been imposed in all city hospitals.

Mian Muhammad Iftikhar, provincial information minister, has confirmed the causality has mounted to 30 people while 100 others are hurt and 15 of them said to be critical in condition.

The blast hit a shopping area close to the city's main Khyber Bazaar and ambulances rushed to the scene, said local police official Asghar Hussain.

"At least 30 people were killed and around 100 wounded in the bomb blast," local administration chief Sahibzada Mohammad Anis told reporters. "We have declared an emergency in the hospitals," he added.

"The bomb was planted in a car parked in the market," said Mian Iftikhar Hussain.

It was not immediately clear if it was a remote-controlled device or a suicide attack. "We are investigating whether it was a suicide blast or the device was planted in the vehicle," the minister told reporters.

Many vehicle nearby parked have been shattered completely while as many as 100 more injured people have been rushed to Lady Reading and various other hospitals for medical attainment, sources added.

The dead and injured people included children, women, ladies, young and elderly people, hospital sources confirmed.

PESHAWAR: A minibus packed with explosives detonated along a road near a well-known and crowded market in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar
on Friday, killing at least 30 and wounding dozens, officials said.

Provincial information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said 30 people were killed and more than 100 wounded. Another police official, Muhammad Khan, said passengers were apparently in the vehicle when it exploded.

The attack in the Khyber Bazaar area demonstrated terrorists' continuing ability to strike Pakistan's major cities, despite military offensives pressuring their networks.

Television footage showed the charred skeleton of what appeared to be a bus flipped on its side in the middle of a major road. Twisted remains of a motorbike lay alongside the bus. A nearby vehicle was in flames.

The attack came days after a suicide attack killed five at a UN office in the capital, Islamabad, and as Pakistan's army prepares for a potential new operation in the South Waziristan tribal region, a major base for the Taliban and al-Qaida.

Just two weeks earlier, another blast in a Peshawar commercial area left 11 dead.

Footage from a nearby hospital showed rooms so crowded with the wounded that bloody and bandaged patients were forced to share gurneys.

``Death has to come one day, but we will keep chasing these terrorists, and this attack cannot deter our resolve,'' said Hussain as he visited the bloody scene.

Also on Friday, interior minister Rehman Malik said a suspect had been arrested in Monday's suicide attack at the office of the UN's World Food Program in Islamabad. Malik says the man was alleged to have given the attacker shelter, but gave few details.

Terrorists’ in Pakistan also have targeted trucks carrying supplies for U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Early Friday, militants ambushed a tanker carrying fuel for the Western troops at a gas station near Peshawar, torching it, said Fazal Rabi, a police official. No injuries or deaths were reported.

The attacks come amid growing tensions between the US and Pakistan over a multi-billion-dollar U.S. aid package that is aimed at helping Pakistan's economy and other non-military sectors.

Welcome to Tit for Tat. Was Indian Embassy bombed in Kabul recently? I guess it was.

So long as we think like this we shall remain where we are . We need to realise that it does not matter where he may be a terrorist remains the same.

He follows the same agenda, follows the same modus operandi, and thrives on distrust.

We cannot gloat when a blast takes place on the Indian embassy in Kabul and expect to be insulated from the same.
