It's all money honey. After seeing how well south Indian movies are doing (because of how they portray Hindu traditions), raking in thousands of crores, Bollywood started realizing the mistake (catering to non-existent Pakistani audience) and is in the correction mode. There is a Hindu renaissance happening in India and movies have to adjust to that.

Bollywood is only popular with Indians and expat communities to a certain extent. Third/fourth generation British Indians here in the UK don't watch it.
