There is no doubt that Zia was one of the conspirators who killed Bangabandhu
Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Tajul Islam on Friday said Ziaur Rahman's grave cannot remain at Chandrima Udyan beside the parliament.
"An assassin of Bangabandhu cannot lie next to the parliament building. The design of the parliament building was changed to accomodate the grave of Ziaur Rahman," he said.
"It does not matter whether Zia's body is there or not, no grave will be allowed next to the parliament building," the minister said at an event held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
"There is no doubt that Ziaur Rahman was one of the conspirators who killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," he said, adding, "The country's unity was destroyed by Ziaur Rahman and his party."
Earlier in August, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said an application had been placed to the speaker of the parliament to remove all illegal structures, including ex-president Ziaur Rahman's mausoleum, from the vicinity of the parliament building.
