. . . .
we need these MRAPS.

sir, in my opinion, if we have the funds to buy these, we must produce these locally at HIT as HIT is not working at its 100% these days and there is not much load. we may see the AKII developments onces we get rid of this governament but nothing much as for now.
HIT have made the MOHAFIZ jeep and some great APC and i doint think it will be a lot of funds required in RnD of a MRAP. if we have the funds to buy it, we have the funds to make it!

what do you suggest?

regards!

i Second Arsalan Bhai

if we have funds we can go for local development..specially on our own needs
as we are capable of making one

remember that we made huge heavy weight trucks like "Yasoob" 20 years back..
than certainly we can develop such MRAP within few years.

which will be cheaper, will give us experiance, create local jobs and more in numbers

We do not need such large sized MRAP's because in cities our LEA's are already using the Mohafiz manufactured by the HIT. In areas of Waziristan, such behemoths will not be able to ride the narrow paths and will essentially be sitting ducks for multiple hits from RPG-7. These may be high on Armour but owing to the high center of gravity and lower off-road speeds, they will have the high tendency of toppling into ditches off the dirt tracks and causing high damage of life and property.

What we do need is a 3-man armored/ infantry vehicle (wheeled-tracked) - like the German Weasel - that is armed with perhaps 50 cal MG or 30 cal main gun and can easily tread on the narrow and dusty paths in Waziristan or anywhere else for that matter. HIT did make such a vehicle prototype in 2007-08 but unfortunately and owing mainly to HIT's bureaucracy, the project never got off!
