The 12-day massive drill will include over a thousand air crews from Germany, Italy, Greece and the US
Several countries, including Germany, Italy, Greece and the United States, are set to take part next week in the “Blue Flag” air exercise hosted by the Israeli Air Force (IAF), the Israeli military announced on Friday.
This will be the first international "Fifth Generation” exercise held in Israel which will involve the F-35 fighter jet.
The drill will begin on Sunday on November 3 and will last 12 days until November 14. It is due to take place at the “Ovda” Air Force Base in southern Israel.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) statement, the exercise “will include over a thousand air crews, technical and administrative personnel from different air forces.”
Moreover, dozens of Israeli aircraft will be deployed in which the IAF will practice air-to-air and ground-combat scenarios, the statement read, dealing with advanced threat assessment consultants (TAC) threats as well as enemy combat scenarios, together with the other air forces.
The IDF further stated that “The exercise is of the utmost strategic importance and has a tremendous influence on the Air Force, the IDF and the State of Israel.”
In total, this would be the fourth time Israel will host the Blue Flag exercise since its inception in 2013, becoming more complex with each drill, The Times of Israel reported.
