Bogra teacher suspended for ‘disparaging remarks’ on Islam

A schoolteacher has been suspended in Sherpur upazila of Bogra for allegedly making derogatory comments on Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) and Islam, reports UNB.
The managing committee of Kalyani High School took the action against Biplab Kumar, a mathematics teacher of the school, yesterday.
A probe panel has also been formed to look into the matter.
Locals alleged that Biplab Kumar posted various disparaging comments on Islam and the Prophet using his Facebook account with the name Krishna Kumar.
Locals surrounded the school on Monday demanding punishment of the teacher. Later, headmaster of the school Sudev Kumar Paul called an emergency meeting of the school governing body which took the action against the accused teacher.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Sarwar Jahan, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mizanur Rahman and officer-in-charge of Sherpur Police Station Khan Mohammad Erfan visited the spot.
