The Canadian smartphone maker is teaming up with the aircraft manufacturer for the Boeing Black Phone, aimed at government officials and corporations.
Smartphone maker BlackBerry and aircraft manufacturer Boeing are collaborating to make what has been branded as the Boeing Black smartphone. The device is aimed at government agencies and corporations, where data security and protection is of paramount importance. The device will be an Android-based smartphone that will feature call encryption and other security features. What is more interesting though is the self-destruct feature that the Black phone will have.
According to reports, this smartphone will be able to self-destruct if someone tampers with it. How exactly this will happen is not known yet, but BlackBerry seems like the obvious choice for making a device like this. The company has often been recognised for its security solutions, thanks to its focus on enterprise users.

While call encryption isn’t something that's new, we don’t yet have a phone that can destroy itself when lost or stolen. Things like the Android Device Manager by Google and Find My iPhone by Apple are able to remotely wipe data off your smartphone and track the phone, but they aren’t quite perfect yet, especially in countries like India.
There is no word on when this phone will be available for the market though or whether it will ever come to the mainstream. The self-destruct feature though seems to be a nice addition that makes a lot of sense for smartphones today.
