QUETTA - Banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) commander Aslam Achou alias Merick Baloch among eight militants was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Sangan area of Sibi district.

Two security men also embraced martyrdom during the gun battle.

Addressing a news conference here at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat yesterday night, spokesman for the Balochistan government, Anwar-ul-Haque Kakar, confirmed the killing of the militants, including the BLA commander.

“The exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants continued for several hours, resulting in the killing of eight militants, including their commander,” he said.

He said BLA commander Aslam Achou alias Merick Baloch was an Afghan Tajik.
He also worked as a spokesman for the banned militant organization.

He was involved in the killing of several civilians and security personnel, kidnapping for ransom and extortion.

The security forces have taken his body into custody.
Two personnel of Frontier Corps Balochistan also embraced martyrdom, he said.

i didn't bother getting an update on the subject ---- see, these are the guys I grew up with, studied together so defence discussion is not the agenda at hand all the time ----- will surely get an update once am back in Pakistan next month
