BJP President Nitin Gadkari on Friday quashed the hopes of Narendra Modi's supporters to declare him the party's prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Gadkari said that the BJP would declare its candidate only after 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

At an interactive session organised by a news channel, Gadkari reiterated that the BJP would not project any leader as the PM candidate before the elections. "Election results will decide who will be the PM candidate," stated Gadkari.

The party president's statement comes just days after senior leader Sushma Swaraj, while campaigning in Gujarat, claimed that Modi is a fit candidate for the post of Prime Minister. While addressing a rally in Vadodara, Sushma had said, "There is no doubt that Modi is a competent candidate for the PM's post."

Modi's close aide Amit Shah, too, had argued about why Modi should be BJP's choice. "Modi has the ability to become the Prime Minister. Now it's upto the party to decide when to announce it," said Shah while campaigning for the party in Gujarat.

Meanwhile, amidst all suggestions by some BJP leaders that Modi was fit to be the Prime Minister, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on December 6 said the NDA was yet to decide on its prime ministerial candidate and this would be done at a later stage. The Bihar Chief Minister said the Prime Minister should be the leader of the largest party of the alliance and should not be a nominated person.

"We don't have any information that the BJP has decided on its Prime Ministerial candidate and if they want the support of allies of NDA, they will have to come to the NDA and share with us. "At that time, there will be proposal about who is the candidate and what we have to do. That time is not here yet... What I see is that both parties (Congress and BJP) have not yet decided on the issue (PM candidate)," he said

On the issue of Prime Ministership, he said there may be some aberrations but the leader (of alliances) should be made Prime Minister and he should not be nominated. "The leader should take this responsibility. There should not be two power centres. Governments can go on for five years. It can keep on dragging. The Prime Minister has to lead the country politically also. I am not talking just about administration," Kumar said.

Sack of sh!t... All big leader of BJP are agree on this issue. The descision will be done after result..

If BJP on its own get 200 seats , Then No one will stop Modi to become PM. (The seat for majority is 272). SS, Akali, Jaya, Independednts, and Naidu has no issue with Modi, as they don't feed on Muslim Vote Bank.

If BJP gets lesser seats then any one can become PM.
