Captain Bilal Zafar Shaheed, Sitara-e-Basalat embraced Shahadat on 17 May 2009 during Operation Rah-e-Rast. Captain Bilal was assigned the task to clear / capture Ghuzanosar Ridge in Peochar valley, a feature of paramount importance for further progress of the operation. Despite stiff resistance and highly difficult terrain, Capt Bilal along with his combat team advanced and contacted the miscreants and cleared the bunkers. Capt Bilal after accomplishing his assigned task decided to move forward and clear the next position. Miscreants after losing their first position were offering stiff resistance and not allowing Capt Bilal to mov fwd. Capt Bilal promptly reacted to every situation and while leading from the front was hit by a rocket on his chest and embraced Shahadat.

February 2nd is the birthday of Capt. Bilal Zafar Shaheed.
His gervices would always be remembered by Pakistan. In gratitude to his sacrifice, the peak of his martyrdom is named as 'Peak Bilal Zafar' and ISPR has made a movie on his life, as a part of 'Faseel-e-Jan sey agay' series. May Allah bless his soul with Jannat-ul-Firdos, and the Nation with many like him. Ameen.
