Bill Gates: Human Waste Can Be Used For Drinking Water

. .
The conflict between India and Pakistan is essentially over water. The Kashmiris are just an excuse.
So Bill here is not wrong to promote the idea.. the US Space Shuttle uses waste water for drinking.

. .
Brilliant idea though not novel of course. It is all about perception. Fecal material is nothing but the fermented food. The only difference between the feces and the fermented bread dough (or yogurt, or beer, or other alcoholic drinks etc) is that the former happens in the human intestine whereas latter in a cooking utensil.

The question is, how many people will agree on this idea? I am sure majority of them will reject it.

This is nothing new at all. In fact, in London, I assumed we were already drinking recycled treated sewage in part.

I think you are specifically commenting about the drinking water coming out from this recycling. Yes, many wont agree but that distilled/reverse osmosis water has dozens of other uses besides human consumption.

People wouldn't mind if they don't know about the source of water they are drinking. :-) Normally this stands true for most of the things people do.

As long as the water is treated properly, I don't see the difference.

Besides, ever wondered what percentage of the water we drink has been through someone else's system?

There isn't much to disagree. The world population is increasing exponentially. Water is life. The idea is ingenious. Water shortage is a reality. Such ideas and innovations are need of the hour.

Jungi we had a water filter installed on the main pipe to our house and within 2-3 months the filter in it was literally drenched in a black sludge like substance even though to the naked eye there was nothing wrong with the water.

Now an additional filter and a UV filter works in tandem with the filter on the main pipe to give us drinkable water.

Are you calling me just an excuse ?

@Jungibaaz do you Mods have the power to ban other mods ?

Ban this Bihari Kebab from my sight ! :pissed:

Because unlike other kinds of fermentation, which are primarily monoculture (one kind of fermenting organisms), plus only one type of raw material (milk, bread, fruit) in the human (or other animals) intestine contains thousands of different types of organisms fermenting a plethora of raw material. BTW, you should smell Pont l’Eveque or Camembert de Normandy cheeses. You'll begin to appreciate the smell of your poop.

Yes.. I was specifically talking about drinking water. And yes this water can be used for other purposes.
