Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will visit to earthquake-hit areas in Azad Kashmir today (Wednesday).
During his visit to AJK, the PPP leader will reach Mirpur District Hospital to inquire about the health of the victims.
He will review the things stand at the moment in Mirpur, will also assure support for earthquake-hit places.
As per sources, Bilawal Bhutto is also scheduled to hold press conference at the residence of Chaudhry Abdul Majeed.
Noting that, on September 24, 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolted in different parts of Pakistan, while the epicentre of the strong quake was near Azad Kashmir’s city of Mirpur, roughly 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Jhelum in Punjab.
According to details, the powerful earthquake was recorded in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Azam Kashmir and different parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The cities where the tremors were felt included Sialkot, Sargodha, Mansehra, Gujrat, Chitral, Malakand, Multan, Shangla, Bajaur, Swat, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan and Mirpur.
Meanwhile, earthquake's depth was 10 km. Reportedly, several houses, shops and buildings collapsed in parts of Azad Kashmir, whereas, roads were badly damaged, as images showed from the affected areas show massive cracks on roads.
Rescue teams have reached to the spot and emergency has been declared at all the hospitals of AJK.
Meanwhile, mobile service has also been affected in the area.
As a result, 26 people lost their lives and over 300 people were wounded in different cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Azad Kashmir.
According to the statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) that Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has directed the military persons immediately commence work in affected areas.
At least 26 people including a woman and a minor girl died and 300 others injured when a strong tremours rocked various parts of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore and Azad Kashmir particularly Mirpur Khas.
The tremors of the earthquake spread fear among the residents.
