This is sick, after the success of farmers protests, the Hindu extremists have taken their oppression of Sikhs into higher gear, just shameless.
New Delhi: A group of six Sikh devotees suffered injuries when they were attacked by a mob for allegedly refusing to donate money for the construction of a temple in Bihar’s Bhojpur district on Sunday, January 16, NDTV has reported.
According to Rahul Singh, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), the injured were travelling a truck from Patna in Bihar to their hometown of Mohali in Punjab. There were about 58 people in the truck when the attack took place.
“Six Sikh devotees, on way to their home in Mohali from Patna, suffered injuries when their vehicle was pelted with stones by a mob for not donating for a religious ritual and construction of a religious place in Charpokhari, Bhojpur on Sunday,” the SDPO confirmed.

The police official further said that the incident took place when the devotees were returning to Mohali after participating in rituals as part of ‘Prakash Parv’ being observed at Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Sahib in Patna. The incident took place on Ara-Sasaram Road near Dhyanitola under Charpokhri police station in Bhojpur district, he added.
The mob stopped the truck and demanded money for the construction of a religious place, which the devotees refused. Soon after the mob pulled out the truck driver and roughed him up. “The devotees in the truck then stepped out to protect him. This series of incidents were followed by a local mob pelting stones at Sikh devotees, which left many injured,” the SDPO added.
The injured were shifted to Charpokhari Public Health Centre where they are being treated currently. Five people had been held for questioning, the police official said.
“At least six to seven people suffered injuries when the mob attacked us for denial to pay extortion money,” a devotee on the truck said, adding that there were 58 people on the truck when the attack took place.
Those injured in the stone-pelting have been identified as Manprit Singh, Birendra Singh, Harpreet Singh, Jasveer Singh and Balveer Singh, all of whom are residents of Mohali.
