My apologies that i called you & that last part cannot be possibly true
@he-man is correct. I can atleast agree with Railway Locomotive part. Here is how:
1. Diesel Locos: Presently IR has 2 classes of Diesel locos a.) ALCO derivatives (WDM 2, WDM 3A, 3D, 3F, WDG 3A). All these use erstwhile US co. ALCOs 251 diesel engine in various derivatives (2600HP to 3600HP). b.)EMD Locos (WDP 4, 4B, 4D and WDG 4 and 4D). these use EMDs 16-710G3B engine again from US.
2. Electric Locos
  • WAM 4, WAG 5 and WAP 1 locos: Alsthom (france) 659 traction motors with Alsthom technology Transformer. These are now built by CLW and BHEL.
  • WAP 4, WAG 7: Hitachi (Japan ) HS 15250 traction motors, BHEL make Transformer
  • WAP 5: 6FXA7059 3 phase motors and ABB transformer
  • WAP 7 and WAG9: Again ABB 6FRA 6068 motors and LOT 6500 transformer.
Almost all of the above mentioned products are now domestically manufactured as per ToT to CLW and DLW, but their lineage can be traced to foreign suppliers.

Thanks for the research man, almost all the tata truck engines are tot from old mercedes engines too,,,they made many improvements but the structure and design largely remains intact.

There may be some exceptions but we are not doing very well in engines is the point here.
