Dubai: Police continued their crackdown on beggars and arrested a man asking motorists for Dh10 only to find Dh19,000 in his pockets.
We arrested an Asian man who was asking for Dh10 from motorists because he claimed he did not have enough money to drive back to Sharjah. But when police approached and searched him, they found Dh19,000 in his possession, said Colonel Mohammad Rashid Al Muhairi, Director of Tourism Security at Dubai Police.
This is clearly another form of begging to which residents should be cautious of.
Since the campaign was launched on July 17, police have arrested 103 beggars, including 14 women.
