Beef ban: Indian guest house removes 'beef' from menu after 'hardliner' complaint

NEW DELHI: A complaint about "beef curry" being served at the official state guest house of Kerala in Delhi sent a large team of policemen to the place on Monday evening, reported NDTV.

The police said they responded immediately to the complaint to prevent any "trouble".

The police team remained at the Kerala House for several hours and spoke to the staff, who said that only buffalo meat was being served as "beef", which is not illegal.

A senior police officer, Jatin Narwal said, "We dealt with the matter with necessary alertness and took our position. The objective was to ensure that law and order is not disrupted."

"It was a preventive measure. The police went to the canteen and informed the staff of the complaint, but did not collect any samples from the canteen," another police officer said.

Reports say the Kerala House has stopped serving buffalo meat for now.

The caller had claimed to be from a fringe right-wing group.

The complaint was reportedly made by an activist of the Hindu Sena, which was involved in an ink attack last week on Jammu and Kashmir lawmaker Engineer Rashid, over his beef party in Srinagar.

Oky that is understandable then,, i mean as long as religion is now being ALLOWED to play part in general day to day affairs and lifestyle of the population. I say this because i have heard people here making fun of and trolling Pakistan's ban on alcohol regard this is an extreme act and against the against the basic human rights. I totally agree with this if it is agreed upon that religion deciding/governing lifestyle of people and being main force behind the government laws is not something bad, in fact, is how things should be. If this is the case i totally understand and support the ban of beef products in India (India being a Hindhu state or hinduism being the main way of life there)

Law have to balance somewhere between the ethos of main stream and so called freedom. Like Pakistan, We too have ban on alcohol in Gujarat to tribute Mahatma Gandhi. Some efforts were made to lift the ban but because of the opposition of some groups, it could not be done. Every society have their belief and ethos and there is nothing wrong in protecting it and respecting these beliefs. I support the Ban of alcohol and pork in Pakistan for the same reason.

Then that is totally acceptable if that is the case, there is not point arguing that. I mean if religion is the reason and it is ACCEPTED (i say accepted because if know it is important but it is about people accepting this) as important to determine such laws then sure, why not. I hope there are a few more who have similar approach to life as you do in this case. Most we see a member advocating beef ban in India in one thread and criticizing head scarf in another!

Safronis are hypocrites. They don't want minorities to take the life of a certain animal, but will go to the extreme of taking a human being's life for that animal. Islam is truly the superior religion where it offers all humans equal rights. only single case happened and even i think was personal rivalry but they gave excuse for this , also not tht much fucked up but media and politician played a great role in highlighting tht
