BD-USA signs air services agreement
DHAKA: A bilateral air services agreement was signed between Bangladesh and United States of America recently.
Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air-Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain and Brian J Hedberg, Senior Negotiator, Office of the Secretary, US Department of Transportations signed the deal on Monday last.
CAAB sources said as the number of ethnic Bangladeshi population in USA is gradually increasing, and the direct air link between Bangladesh and USA by Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been suspended since 2006, to meet the increasing demand of traveling people resumption of direct air links has become an immense requirement for both the countries.
Bangladesh Delegation requested US delegation to discuss on the Draft Bilateral Air Services Agreement provides to Bangladesh by the US Department of Transport through the State Bureau of Public Affairs, United States of America.
USA will finalize the draft bilateral air services agreement between the two friendly countries to ahead further to initiate the bilateral air services agreement between Bangladesh and United Sates of America.
Bangladesh requested US delegation briefed about the regulatory requirements of Department of Transport, US Government on signing of bilateral air services agreement under US Open Sky Policy.
