The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has cautioned members of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team against talking in Urdu for the remainder of their tour to Pakistan.

The BCB sought an explanation from the team management upon skipper Salma Khatun’s speaking a few phrases in Urdu during a media talk, reports The Express Tribune quoting Shafiqul Haq, manager of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team.

“We have been ordered to speak only Bengali or English during interviews or talks with anyone here,” Shafiqul Haq told The Express Tribune.

“I have been asked to stay with the team wherever they go and translate their words in English,” he added.

The Bangladesh government has directed the BCB that the players and officials should avoid speaking in Urdu or Hindi during their tour of Pakistan or India, an official of the cricket board confirmed.

Bangladesh players and officials have been asked to abide by the policy and refrain from conversing in Urdu during their tour in Pakistan.

Bangladesh women are on a limited-over series visit to Pakistan and will be playing their first ODI against the hosts today.

Does Hasina hate Pakistan this much that she has to dig her nose into sports and turn it into a political affair?

They have been asked not to speak in Urdu and Hindi. This comes with the intention of using the national language by the national team.

There's no politics here.

PS: I doubt they can speak proper Urdu anyways.

Urdu does not belongs to Pakistan but to India. Around 99% of Urdu verbs have their roots in Sanskrit, Prakrit and the Khadi boli (Mainly spoken in North Indian states like Bihar, UP etc)
The only connection of Pakistan with Urdu is the migrated UPites and Biharis during Partition.
Even MA Jinnah's mother tongue was Gujrati not Urdu.

Urdu has nothing to do with Pakistan, but Indian. Even in Pakistan, the native Urdu speakers (who now live in Karachi) are those whose ancestors lived in India. Pakistan just borrowed that language from India, because none of their local languages Punjabi/Sindhi/Balochi/Pakhto/etc were good enough to be their national language.

Urdu is essentially 99% Hindi, with a few Persian/Turkish/Arab vocabulary, thanks to foreign invaders from those countries at that time.
Offtopic bull shit. Urdu is official language of Pakistan we aren't discussing urdu origin and from where urdu has taken words. But you people had verbal diarrhea :D please read thread tittle before posting thanks.

I will take it as Appreciation, Thank You :-) Sorry, if my upcoming words hurt you, but imposing Urdu over Bangla was one of the reasons for the breaking of Pakistan and creation of Bangladesh.
