Bogra headmaster arrested for distributing beef khichuri among Hindu students

A school principal has been arrested for distributing beef khichuri among Hindu students during a “Mothers’ Conference” in Bogra.
Police on Sunday arrested Abdul Hannan, 45, principal of Pirgacha AF Girls High School and Shakahria union BNP leader, after the news spread among the parents of those students.
The parents were furious about the news and staged demonstration and protested in front of the school, forming a human chain.
Around 800 packets of beef khichuri were distributed on Saturday during the “Mothers’ Conference” at the school premises. Of them 65 were Hindu students and their parents.
Bogra Sadar police station OC SM Badiuzzaman went to the school and assured the demonstrators of justice, after he arrested Principal Hannan.
Bogra Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) (Media) Shanatan Chakrabarty said: “Upon receiving the information police went to the school and calmed down the angry protestors and assured them of proper justice of the matter.”
Parents complained that on Saturday morning, 7kgs of cow meat were bought for the ceremony. Of them, 4kgs meat was cooked as curry for the guests and 3kg were used to make khichuri for the students.
However, the principal claimed that muttons were bought not beef and denied the allegations against him.
OC Badiuzzaman said: “Hannan has been arrested on the charges of hurting religious sentiments. There will be a law suit and divisional punishment arranged against him. Investigations are going on about whether it was actually cow meat or not.”
