Bangladeshi extremist group ABT may target Indian cities: Report

1946 and 1964 was before Bangladesh....don't want to get in there. Riot was everywhere in 1946....can't say who started it...but I do condemn violence.

About the rest......number of causality is 0...from those three. While the violence is to be condemned, we all should be happy that at least no one died. Also the govt took action against the perpetrators. Many were arrested following the incidents. Gov't even took measures to ban Jamaat...there were protests nationwide condemning these attacks.

Can we say the same about India? Where mob lynching is seen as a delightful event.

Look, your agenda is clear from your post and I don't think I have to explain these things to you...but still, listen. We Bangladeshis are not a hateful or intolerant bunch. I do think for various reasons some had to migrate from Bangladesh. You have to understand for most part of our history we had been a very poor country. Many people thought it would be better for them in India. Of course there has been some incidents of violence as well...but the action of a few doesn't represent the nation. If you have a chance, do visit Bangladesh and I promise you will be surprised by the warm welcome you will get. Traffic jams and condition of roads might bother you...but the interaction with people will mostly be positive.

Do you think someone's father would just leave his job and a house in Dhaka to seek a better life in India in 1964 even after enduring a bitter partition. Anyway let's leave it at that. I mostly agree with what you have to say in your last para. Good and evil are everywhere but this discussion wasn't about that.

One last thing though, there is no agenda and whatever I wrote was from my heart. My apologies if anyone was offended. But please don't call me a hindu jamaati, far from it!

Bangladesh has been cracking down hard on ABT...it is possible they are slowly shifting their operation to India.
It is very easy to hide in India, go to a cosmopolitan city like bombay or bangalore and melt into the crowd. No one is going to ask any questions, stay low and they will go undetected.
Fact is if one of these miscreants create any disturbances it will create problem for rest of the hard working ppl.

Bangladesh is relatively a safer place for minorities compared to other intolerant countries like pakistan, India or Myanmar.

However, we need to keep in mind that most of the minorities from Bangladesh r relatively peace loving people.

But when it comes to persecuting the minorities Bangladesh army is no different than Myanmar or Indian Army. Remember how our army massacred the Jumma people in Chittagong hill Tracts?

We always cry about how we got butchered by the Pakistan army in 71 or how Indian army is butchering the kashmiri Muslims but conveniently ignore the fact that when the shoe was on our foot we or our Army didn't act any differently either.

Though you have a point here, BD does provide the ethnic minorities with citizenship and quotas for Universities and government employment opportunities. Crimes were done, but now we can hope for their situation to improve with new development initiatives for the area and the implementation of the accord.

Dada they are in your territory, arrest and hang these scum - if you CAN.

But the reality is that your police forces are basically Ball-less. They CAN'T.

These are our finest...

I am forced to call you 'retard' for comparing our army with that of burmese genocidal army or Indian army in Kashmir or North east.there was no large scale violence by Bangladesh army against the tribals in CHT, Do you think, UN, Amnesty International or other human rights group would have remained silent, If that was the case? Some mistreatment may have happened, but nowhere near the burmese or Indian level of violence. In the last 20 years, Tribals are living like a king in CHT, They are enjoying special quota and preservation in all the administrative jobs, education. Getting govt. subsidy and ration which is not the case in other part of country. In CHT, tribals do business without paying any tax, which is not the case with Bengali businessmen living next to them. Go CHT and watch how lavishly Chakmas are living. If we were like Burmese, then we would have declared them as illegal burmese and driven them out to burma. They came to CHT 200-300 years ago from burma, and enjoying privileged position in Bangladesh, while see the plight of Rohingyas who had lived in north Arakan for at least 600 years. This rightfully demonstrate the difference between us and them.

You certainly are right that it's nowhere near the levels of Indian or Burmese violence. But Amnesty wasn't silent on the issue. They wrote a report dealing with the conflict in 1986. And tribals definitely aren't living like kings in CHT. Most of them have high drop out rates in primary education, low literacy rates, high poverty rates, and poor health conditions. Chakmas are likely doing better because of linguistic similarity to Bangla which gives them room for social mobility.

New Delhi: Sources in the Indian intelligence agencies have revealed that Bangladesh-based Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) - an Islamic extremist group - may have plans of targeting several cities in India.

The information is believed to have come to light after Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested five suspected terrorists recently. Previously, seven suspected operatives of ABT were also arrested in Bodh Gaya and consequent interrogations have pointed to a possible attack being planned by the group.

According to sources, ABT has already managed to create several bases in cities like Pune and Ambarnath in Maharashtra. It is suspected that these bases may even exist outside Maharashtra as well.

The ABT is believed to be a front for Al Qaeda and was banned by Bangladesh in 2016. With a corporate-like functioning system, the ABT apparantly has divisions like finance, operations, IT, finance and transport. It originated in Bangladesh in 2007 and even went bust due to lack of funds - only to resurface around 2013.

Bangladesh is already a Islamic extremist state. What can you expect from them? Just 2,3 years back a Buddhist monk, 3 Hindu priests were hacked to death by Islamists and 10 christian pastors received death threats from Bangladeshi Islamists. Moreover bloggers and scientists like Avijit roy, Zafar iqbal, Ahmed Rajib haidar who voices against extremism are also killed in broad day light. I think as for now more than 40% of Bangladeshi muslims support Islamic extremism in some way or other.
