Bangladesh will remain neutral on the France issue
Bangla Tribune Report

Bangladesh will not take any side in the ongoing unrest surrounding France. French President Emmanuel Macron's remarks on religion will not be condemned by the government and the ongoing anti-French rallies will be tolerated, foreign ministry sources said.

A Foreign Ministry official said on Wednesday (October 26th): "Security has been beefed up at the French Embassy, Allianz Francis and the French International School in Bangladesh. The security of French nationals in the country has also been strengthened.

"Everyone has the right to freedom of expression," he said. As long as the assembly is peaceful, the government will not take any action in this regard.

Meanwhile, scholars in Bangladesh have continued to protest against the hurt of religious sentiments through 'state-sponsored' caricatures' in France. Scholars and students of Qawmi Madrasa and various religious organizations staged protests in several places in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday. The effigy of French President Macron was cremated in the Baitul Mukarram area. However, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen was not immediately available for comment.

Various people from Bangladesh are posting anti-France videos on YouTube. These have been brought to the notice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the ambassadors of various European countries. Asked about this, another official said, "If any action is to be taken against them, it has to be taken through the Digital Security Act." But European countries have objections to the Digital Security Act.

"We see the issue as freedom of expression and taking any action is not a priority for us," he added.

France, meanwhile, has advised its citizens to exercise caution in several other countries, including Bangladesh. Many other Muslim countries, including Turkey and Saudi Arabia, have condemned the incident and called for a boycott of French products in response to the president's statement that "France will not stop showing caricatures.

. .
Well, the government should have issued a condemnation latter.

Anyways, we don't really consume much French made products. So, we can't fuel this boycott France movement. Only MENA countries can pressurise France...

. . . .
Feel proud to have a real PM who speaks up against injustice unlike some weak puppets whose name rhymes with Hasina.

Okay.

Meanwhile, Thread was created with the singular purpose of drawing hurr durr types ire towards Bangladesh, OP is such a patriot.

Wiser heads prevail in BD. Let the people make the point. GOB need do nothing. The pics of protests are everywhere, point adequately made.

Actions have consequences.

BD needs EU on its side, i see no reason to jump on a bandwagon that achieves little.

France is institutionally racist. Macron is in deep trouble with his retarded economic policies. Islamic bogeyman enables him to raise his popularity and dent the far right front national of marianne lepen. He like in the previous election wants to unite the left and the right against a common enemy...unfortunately that is islam and the muslims.

This is a political game in France. Understand the context. Understand how to play the game. Understand BD policy of keeping everybody on board.

France and Macrons anti islamic position has been answered empathetically by the people of BD more effectively than anything GoB could have said.

At the end of the day core question to Muslims, what is important for them - upholding the sanctity of their faith or give in to lure of money and economic benefit? Among the class who can type "English" and from elite class mostly and readily opt for the later option and happy being apologetic. But for majority who do not type English that much, have first option in their mind.

Weak move by Bangladesh.

Take a fookin stance for once.

They should have condemned Macron's comments.

This is provocation in the name of free speech.

This also questions civility of French and European culture. Islam phobic metality institutionalized throughout EU in the name of freedom of speech. At the same time French and European brand of freedom of speech does not allow even questioning "holocaust", let alone making any criticism. This contradiction in French and European behavior clearly points to the fact that Europeans are willing to form their "freedom of speech" depending how much economic and military power one can exercise over them. In post WW II, Jews just showed that.
