Bangladesh : The Asian Tiger Myth vs Reality

Just look at post 37 lol. Just speechless the level of idiocy on display. They can never accept Pakistan is better at something or even doing ok and improving at something......if it somehow detracts away from Bangladesh in the slightest.

This particular one has been like that ever since I posted the reality of his society compared to Pakistan where Bangladesh govt cannot hide/fake the data as much:

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.ADO.TFRT?locations=BD-PK

But of course womens liberation feelz can prove things beyond such data! BAL STRONK.

I never really understood this logic applied here.
They think somehow pointing to our flaws, will make theirs disappear.

.
Bangladesh have found a good balance between modernity and Islamic tradition. It is something the Pakistani poster might not admit but you have to give credit to BD, they have progressed.

They also managed to control the birth rate very impressively, even better than India and Pakistan.

On the economic front while some maybe too optimistic, it definitely has potential to become more like a Malaysia in 10 years. All BD needs is some natural resource find.

Yaar there is no good or bad logic.

It causes alarm and sadness to see a hopeful and potential country like Pakistan go down the tubes. The present situation in Pakistan does not help the average Pakistani, it only helps the hyper privileged and powerful, mostly in the military.

How many average folks in Pakistan have been given flats and condos in Fizaya and defense housing areas? Can everyone belong to the military? Where will your income come from? Can everyone be sent to Dubai and Europe to become cabbies and security guards?

Even if you are in the armed forces, you need to create an economy where the average Pakistani can make a living. Forget exports, local consumption is also a need.

All countries have flaws - Bangladesh does too. But how can Bangladesh come up to 48th place in gender equality in thirty some years and you guys have next to last place at 148th(see my post and Dinesh Vohra's video above)? Are the religious nutcases THAT powerful that they cannot be reined in? I think that says a lot.

Some Bangladeshis are happy to see Pakistan go down the tubes - but not most, in spite of 1971.

Majority Bangladeshis (just like majority Pakistanis) like to see each other (and even India) prosper. It was not long ago that we were all really, really poor. Some would say we still are.

By 2030-2033... 11-14 years not 20 years
Re-doubling the per capita GDP in 14 years needs a yearly 10.5% growth every year. Many missing ingredients must be put together to the economy to achieve such a feat.

I would like to quote few international rankings Bangladesh is placed in the recent times. You can decide your self if Bangladesh has beaten Pakistan and India as most members from BD keep claiming here.

1) Bangladesh is the least innovative country in Asia.
(Global innovation index 2018)

2) The worst roads in Asia are in Bangladesh, Out of the 114 countries , Bangladesh stands at 113 . Just better than Nepal.
( World economic forum 2017 Data leads)

3) Dhaka is second worst city of the world as a capital of a any country.
(Global liveability index 2018 , EIU)

4) Dhaka as the capital of the country is 3rd most air-polluted in the world.
(WHO, 2018)

5) Bangladesh's capital on world happiness Index happy city among Asian cities stands at 144th of the 150 cities.
(Zipjet)

6) Interms of the cost of living, the capital of the country is to spend more than the Washington DC of America.
(EIU, World wide cost of living, 2018)

7) In the consideration of the freedom of print or electronic media, Bangladesh is the worst in South Asia. If you calculate the whole world, then the position of that country is 146th. The condition of Burma is also better than this, the 137th.
( Reporters sans frontiers , world press freedom index 2018)

8/ The Passport of that country is one of the weakest passports in the world, its position is 100th.
( Global passport power rank 2018 (by henley and partners, based on IATA)

9) That Country's mobile internet speed is 113th among the 124 countries. Under this there is only Iraq, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Algeria, Libya, Ghana.
( Speedtest dot net, September, 2018)

10) In the democracy index, Bangladesh stands at 92 in the world.
(EIU democracy index, 2018)

11) Talking about rule of law, that country is the 102th of the 113 countries.
(WJP Rule of Law index 2018)

12) Among South Asian nations, Bangladesh stands lowest 176th, with India ranking at 77, Bhutan 81, Sri Lanka 100, Nepal 110, Pakistan 136, Maldives 139, Afghanistan 167, with Myanmar at 171

( World Bank's Doing Business report, 2018)
All these indexes can't get BD in the league of big boys no matter, evn if it crosses Japan's economy, it takes a military might and strategic location and its role in world affairs, good for BD but still all these indexes aren't placing BD even in the top 50 world economies?
Even super economies like , Japan or Korea still needs a big brother like USA to save themselves of bieng vaporized by a poor nation like North Korea?
I can understand the (of bieng a super power) or mighty status syndrome in lots of BD nationalists these days but here is the reality, it ill. Just take 2 nuclear armed missile strikes to put BD to stone ages forever, for Which BD has no defence?
Bieng economically strong doesn't make u powerfull instead it attracts more powerfull millitray mights to strike and take whatever thy can from that so called economically well off nations, or to let them bieng a Satalite slave as what japan and South Korea are to USA?

Yaar there is no good or bad logic.

Its same as in INDIA, BD, PAK, SRILANKA tht previllged classes prevailing still tody, but tht not means that it will continue like that forever, luckily pakistan has a good leader who isn't came to power by killing thousands of innocent ppls on the name of super religion like in India?
Nor pakistan and its leader bowed down to a devil Like MODI , for so called economic progress like BD, leadership which is following, hindu extermists and thier narative to rule on its poor ppls like sheikh hassena?
Yes pakistan is facing tough economic situations but once CEPEC is done and running, im sure many you ill find more bangalies comming to pak for a job once again????

2 rebasing will happen between now and 2030. Already some predictions are made. With that it is possible. Already forecast is made already.

Thanks @Black_cats bhai. Here is the write-up:

Bangladesh is a South Asian country sharing land borders with India and Myanmar. With a population of over 163 million, it is the eighth most populous country in the world. The country has seen robust growth averaging 6.3% per year over the past decade. Its GDP per capita stands at $4,600 in PPP international dollars, making it a lower-middle income country by the World Bank’s definition.

Garments are the main export good of the Bangladeshi economy, accounting for over 80% of total exports in the financial year ending 2017. Remittances are a further important source of income for the country. Around 43% of Bangladeshis work in the agriculture sector, mostly producing rice and jute. Maize, vegetables and wheat play a smaller albeit growing role in the country.

Bangladesh’s economy is expected to have grown by 7.3% over 2018, just shy of the 7.4% recorded in 2017. The country has benefitted from a strong increase in remittances in the financial year ending 2018, after declines in the previous two years. Moreover, the export sector benefitted from the duty free access to the Indian market, pushing exports to $375 million in the three months to September. Indian clothing retailers, as well as global retailers opening Indian outlets, increasingly import from Bangladesh due to the competitive prices of their products. Bangladesh’s competitiveness relative to India was further boosted by the introduction of a General Sales Tax in India, a step that is still outstanding in Bangladesh.

Growth in Bangladesh’s economy is driven by domestic consumption expenditure, government spending, remittances and exports. While the country has made important steps towards modernising its economy in recent years, significant challenges remain. On the political side, high-level corruption and tension between the main parties could lead to instability surrounding the parliamentary elections at the end of 2018. As for the economy, Bangladesh runs the risk of negating gains from its successful export sector through its growing appetite for imports. The current account tipped into a deficit in 2017, and this is expected to widen in 2018. The government will also need to explore options on how to increase revenues in order to finance upgrades for infrastructure while maintaining the social safety net. The country is further grappling with the Rohingya refugee crisis.

We expect annual rates of GDP growth to average 7.0% between 2018 and 2033. This will see the country climb 19 places in the World Economic League Table to become the world’s 24th largest economy by 2033.

They think somehow pointing to our flaws, will make theirs disappear.

Then they think their fake numbers such globalist feelz reports have to use actually matter (rather than say building up their country credilibity and reputation first thing).

Anyway leave them to their delusion. Anyone can see the reality on youtube etc....and why BD does not attract a modicum of actual 3rd party on the ground interest to vet their claims.

Make up the numbers as you go along....coz no one cares. Same thing with rigging their elections and their 1971 number paranoia, that is BAL groupthink in nutshell. Oh and then cry (waissist or whatever) when there is 3rd party reality check or clear major dissonance on something....or just resort to personal attack or some lame excuse.

I kid you not, this idiot crying in here now about rankings in reports (that just use the BD claims willy nilly) and "average/backward pakistanis" ....was all happy as swine in mud when he heard that BD will be exporting this and that by now (back in 2015). Yet he shamelessly still here when absolute zilch has happened with those and even minor targets are pushed by 10 whole years lol. Reality checks like those only hurt him, so he prefer to stick to the globalist feelz rankings that just take BD internal feelings figures....I mean who really cares in enough number to check it on the ground?

One can even internally check if any of BD growth reaches its actual people, only to find that they are having their real incomes decline now because of the inflation (from that "growth") they suffer:

https://opinion.bdnews24.com/2017/12/18/where-did-the-benefits-of-economic-growth-disappear/

But members here just ignore that and pretend none of it has any bearing at all. Why should it after all, its not like BD masses can vote their govt out of power to challenge this system of delusion. So just dbl down on it and let it fester more, hoping something truly nasty down the road never happens.

Point is the report assumed 7% growth on average from now and 2030. I believe with higher average gdp growth rate between now and 2030 will be higher than 7% and will put the gdp much higher than 1.053 trillion usd projected.

On side note, I believe some black *** needs some burnol.

Whatever re-basing and whatever forecasting you are talking about, a national economy needs to grow in average 10.5% per year to re-double its GDP in just 14 years. If a forecast is not based on math it is certainly imperfect.

You are a shameless creature aren't you?

Still quoting that one article from a BD economics professor I see! We can get many other economics professors that say the opposite.

As for this inflation crap you keep mentioning, let us disprove that in one go by looking at the minimum wage of the garments sector since AL came into power in 2009.

2009: 1662 Taka
2010: 3000 Taka
2013: 5300 Taka
2018: 8000 Taka

Now let us look at BD inflation since 2009:

https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/f...=1&pr1.x=69&pr1.y=12&c=513&s=PCPIPCH&grp=0&a=

upload_2019-4-26_5-4-41.png

Inflation was only a serious problem in 2010 and 2011 and minor issue in 2013 and 2014.
Even then in the last 10 years the prices of goods and services has gone up by just over double but the minimum wage has gone up on 3 occasions and it is now 5 times what it was when AL came into power in 2009.

You really think a country like BD can be run by a government that is universally hated? Unlike you docile Hindus BD people rise up against oppressors like what happened with Pakistan in 1971. AL are not perfect but they are delivering jobs, rising incomes, infrastructure etc.

I can quote many other facts like electricity consumption and the 17 billion US dollars being spent on infrastructure projects this year but you are just a butt-hurt who has too much time on your idle hands.

Nominal gdp growth includes real gdp growth plus 4-5% inflation. So in total we are talking about 12-13% gdp growth each year considering 7-8% real gdp growth.

In which mathematics you need 10.5% growth rate to double a number?

Doubling time will be natural logarithm of 2 divided by the growth rate.

So 70/7 = 10 years.

Yeah the hateful types for sure...:D

On a related note, have you seen examples of suckerfish? Their only talent is firmly placing their mouth on someone else's a$$ and never letting go. Even if the host(s) want to.

iu

The reason is that sorry bottom-feeder sucker doesn't have anywhere else to turn to. No one will give that poor Ba$tard the time of day because he thinks so little of himself. So either kissing a$$ or eating $hit (literally) is all he can do.

Such examples are legion at PDF as well.
