Bangladesh ranks 24th in arms importers

Bangladesh ranked 24th in the world in spending on the import of military weapons, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

In the same year, neighbouring India ranked first with its import of weapons worth $4,764 million while China was the second importing weapons worth $1,689 million.
Pakistan ranked fifth importing weapons worth $1,244
million.

according to the report , BD spent $2,773 million. according to another report BD spend $2,000 million in last 4 years, so BD spent only $773 million in rest of 20 years. We left the armed forces completely aside for a long time.

It should be the former figures. The spending have increased in recent times, reinforced by the reason that Hasina's tenure is coming to an end soon.

let me tell you bro, the modernization program has been set during army backed caretaker government, even which equipment they will purchase all has been set, AL is just implementing it, when BNP will come into power, they will do same.

I am aware of it. But partly to keep the BDF happy, Hasina needed to step up some additional modernization process during her govt. as well. Specially because AL's relationship with the BDF wasnt very good anytime due to her India-friendly policies.
