After Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has also cancelled his India tour amid protests in the country against a citizenship law.

Kamal had been scheduled to travel to Meghalaya through the Tamabil borders in Sylhet on Friday morning at the invitation of the Indian state’s Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.

“The minister, an MP, the minister’s APS and a public relations officer were supposed to go. But now the minister is not going,” said a home ministry official on Thursday evening.

Kamal would visit Meghalaya at a “suitable time”, he added.

The home minister had been scheduled to take part in programmes marking the victory against Pakistan in the 1971 Liberation War, according to a bdnews24.com report.

Earlier in the afternoon, Momen cancelled his three-day visit between Dec 12 and Dec 14 to attend the Indian Ocean Dialogue and hold talks with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar citing a busy schedule.

India moved thousands of troops into the northeastern state of Assam, where a movement against illegal immigrants allegedly from Bangladesh has simmered for decades.

Protests took place across India's northeast on Thursday after India’s parliament on Wednesday passed the law that would make it easier for non-Muslim minorities from some neighbouring countries to seek Indian citizenship.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist government has said the Citizenship Amendment Bill was meant to protect minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

But thousands of protesters in Assam, which shares a border with Bangladesh, say the measure would open the region to a flood of foreign migrants.

Others said the bigger problem with the new law was that it undermined India's secular constitution by not offering protection to Muslims.

Now???

BD must brace herself to receive tens of millions of refugees as Hindutva will be ruthlessly implementing the "Final Solution" vis-à-vis the Muslims residing in India....

The following picture never gets older:

A poem for Bangladesh

First they destroyed ancient mosques and I just called India "my husband"
Then they lynched Indian Muslims and I didn't care because they were not Bengali.
Then they destroyed Kashmir and I helped them with the UNGA speech.
Now they are coming after Bengalis and only now do I realize "my husband" is bad.

I am just happy to see that Bangladesh is finally seeing the threat from India.
I still don't expect them to show any concern for Muslims, but at least they will show concern for Bengalis.

@Atlas: Kindly tell me, on a serious note, about the significance of this news.

Bangladesh will face a massive immigrants influx of at least 20 million in years to come. They were screwed the moment the sided with india in hopes of better relation and fake promises on ethnic bases by accepting their hegemony. Modi will cripple Bangladesh to a point where they will not be able to resist assimilation.

Bhai ,this is a message towards India and to rest of the world and that is Bangladesh is not going to tolerate any such movement from India . Bangladesh officially stated that such things are Indian internal issue . But Bangladesh knows that India under BJP is an aggressive entity who has an agenda to push their Muslim citizens to neighboring countries .

So this is a silent message of declining bilateral relationship between India and Bangladesh . Although both minister showed excuse of 14 December intellectual day and 16 December victory day , but this actually make no sense . As if they are cancelling India tour , then why did they even fixed it in such important days ?

So it's clear that Bangladesh is indirectly showing it's attitude toward Modi govt .

Now I think this is the beginning of cold relationship between Bangladesh and India if India keep pushing the fact. And if India try to push it's minority , then Bangladesh will not seat on hand to watch it . .

Bangladesh will never offend anyone at first , but Bangladesh will be defending itself at any cost against such aggression . India is not Miyanmer , India has a position in the world , so I do not thing anything can stop Bangladesh taking action against Indian aggression .

So I think it's just the beginning . Slowly we need to wait and observe what is going to happen in future . If India take wrong movement , India will get another Pakistan ( inimical sense ) in it's eastern frontier . Will it be easy for India to handle 2 Pakistan from both side ?

Now what we need , is defense equipment , and we are already getting for Army . Now waiting for Air force . What is your assumption brother , if India got 2 Pakistan what will be the consequence when they can not handle one opponent in western frontier ;)?

But BJP is not like congress , they are ambitious about their mythological Akhanda bharat , so they will not control themselves , and Bangladesh will protect it's sovereignty at any cost . So the clash between the two countries will be inevitable.

Thanks for an elaborate reply. Highly appreciate it. It appears that these BJP Sanghis are driving whole of the subcontinent, into some unfathomed waters. May Allah give them some sense.

Why should any country have the problem to accept their own citizens illegally migrated to other country? We are even accepting Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Afghani Hindus, Shikhs , Christians who are not our citizen. BD should happily accept their own citizens.

Bangladesh is not going to tolerate any such movement from India

Which Movement?

I would love to agree with you but the ground realities are different. Indians had already penetrated deep inside BD, and in last election played an active role in electing Haseena. There is no denial to that. How do you expect Haseena to stand to her political masters, this is nothing but an attempt to pacify Bangladeshi public, she will eventually tow the Indian line.
