Dhaka is a hidden culinary delight - far more diverse than any South Asian destination, especially for East Asian Cuisine. The new thing in Dhaka (just like other larger cities in the neighborhood) is 'theme' restaurants, even in fine dining. Some representative places below.

Wasabi serves exotic Sushi, Sashimi, Maki rolls, Teppan Yaki and other Japanese and California-Japanese specialties.

Opinions don't have to be justified - they're just opinions (right or wrong).

However from my travels, I notice Delhi and Mumbai don't have a lot of East Asian choices like Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian. I could be wrong however. Dhaka has an exceedingly large number of Korean, Thai and Filipino expats (because of apparel trade) who have enriched our culinary horizons. In fact Dhaka has an inordinately large number of Thai restaurants at every price level.

Is there a Mumbai or Delhi restaurant thread here? Please post link(s) if possible.

No idea mate. I am in Chennai right now and it is OK. Anyway we just use Zomato or burrp to search for strange places to eat. Mostly we just order in office from the nearest crap fast food joint.

Mumbai has more than enough Far Eastern type cuisine places it has more restaurants than any South Asian city I can assure you but Dhaka has some pretty hip joints too.

Good photos, and the sushi looks delectable!

The variety of cuisine, and I'm not talking about run-of-the-mill restaurants in every major neighbourhood in urban India, but Michelin star-rated restaurants in Delhi and Bombay, cannot be surpassed by any other south Asian city.


I urge you to get a table at the REAL 'Wasabi' by Morimoto, both in Bombay and Delhi.

Then go to Bagdadi and eat like a king. Then have a beer at the theka behind Gokul. All for less Rs. 500.. Then go to Gateway and watch the sea and the horse carriages...! What say @Bombaywalla?

haha Gokul and Baghdadi are awesome, but who says you can't do upmarket too eh?


p.s: a Kinfisher ka bada batli costs Rs 250 at Gokul, and Baghdadi chicken costs about 200 bucks. It takes a lot more to get sloshed and fed even at shyte joints nowadays
