Among them, two inshore patrol vessel, two tugboat and a floating crane. All are indigenously built at Narayanganj Dockyard and Khulna shipyard. These Inshore patrol vessels can run at 25 nautical miles and each contains three automatic cannon. Tomorrow, PM will commission these ships.

Our coast guard badly needs offshore patrolling capabilities to protect our fisheries. This will require much bigger ships than the ones being inducted tomorrow. In order to buy large ships more budget is needed. China is able to supply large ships at a competitive price.

Coast Guard already operating four OPV, each 1285 ton ex-Italian corvettes. Coast guard has enough ships, but our Navy badly needs Submarines, modern frigates, corvettes etc.

Good call but I want to add that larger ships (especially defence vessels for Navy and Coast Guard) should be built as much locally as possible. Local skills for basic shipbuilding is sufficient to build basic structures and super structures.

What needs to be added (and is still insufficient) is weapons integration, engine and power train integration, defence vessel design etc.

A modern Navy cannot depend totally on imported vessels and get away with having no indigenous capability forever.

We need to take help from China or South Korea for these needs and grow our shipbuilding sector which is long overdue.

I have written and posted in detail - extensively about local shipbuilding and Navy matters in the past and can explain if needed.

I think the plan for building the modern frigates locally has been shelved for a long, long time.

Probably because there is not enough churi possibility in these compared to infra projects.

As far as I know, the Bangladesh navy is preparing CDDL to build six medium frigates within 2030. Since the submarine base is ready to house six submarines, we need to buy them from China. I prefer Type 039C. They are pretty good technology-wise.

Is there a possibility to build a blue water navy for Bangladesh within 2041? I mean adding an aircraft carrier to the fleet within 2041.

Because defence is the lowest priority for Bangladesh govt. Every year defence budget as a percentage of total budget and gdp is decreasing steadily. Next year's defence budget is just 5.5% of total budget and 0.8% of GDP. Few years ago, these percentage were 7-8% and more than 1% respectively which themselves were very low. We can not expect any big ticket item with paltry 0.8 percent of GDP devoted to defence. This budget is just for salary and maintainance. Unless Bangladesh spend at least 2% of GDP on defence, it will always remain a weak pushover on military might.

Not sure if you're being serious. Blue water navy is out of the question for now at least.

Our focus is (and always will be IMHO) defensive.

Yes - I'd say even in 2041.

Some might differ with me here but I see no point in engaging with other countries in pointless Naval action on geopolitical tussles...

We do need to have a VERY strong defensive capability however, and cultivate cooperation with larger Navies.

Bhai, we need to secure our sea lines of communication in the Indian Ocean. Most of our oil imports pass through the Indian Ocean and that needs to be secured at any cost. In 2041, our energy imports from the Middle-East will increase exponentially. That's why I was talking about building a blue water navy by adding an aircraft carrier.

Why an aircraft carrier for BN? Which country do you want BD to attack in a far away place? It will bankrupt BD which is already at the verge of bankruptcy.

China and India each has 2 aircraft carrier though Japan had 26 such ships in between the 1st and 2nd world wars.

All these countries have the technology, experienced technical manpower, correct organizations and necessary shipbuilding sites including Dry Docks.

An aircraft carrier is not like a piece of garment that a lady can cut and stitch. So, BD cannot do it. And no one will build and sell this expensive toy to a poor BD.

Our navy people know their limit.

Although Japan has 260 aircraft carriers. But the China Coast Guard is firmly defending the Diaoyu Islands!

The Japanese attempted to land on the Diaoyu Islands through a small boat. The China Coast Guard raises the "Z-shaped Flag"

In the end, the Japanese fled crying.😂

You don't need an aircraft carrier to ensure oil imports by escorting tankers.

Aircraft carriers are for invading other countries using coastal operations.

Please study this subject prior to discussing it further.
