Bangladesh Asia’s 2nd most gender equal country: World Economic Forum

Is it mandatory for women to earn money?

This question is not the right question to ask.

The right question is, "Can women be self-sufficient with their income?"

In socially backwards parts of the world, men are too insecure in letting this happen because of their lack of education and unfounded fear.

A woman with an education and independent of men for their livelihood, are far better stewards of society, law and order as well as better parents. This has been seen in Bangladesh on NGO studies where women were able to lift themselves out of poverty within a generation using micro-financing loans and whatever small business they engaged themselves in, while some men would waste it on alcohol, gambling and prostitutes.

Of course men have to change in order to tolerate this, with women having equal rights, so they try to take womens' rights away and place restrictions based on artificial premises (like in Saudi Arabia).

Hey idiot. Did u ask ur mother? Did she share her dark secret with u?

Anyway, its quite evident from the way u r posting right now that u r about to get a heart attack. Even failing to write proper sentences. Not surprising though. Afterall, ur mother did shock u tonight with a detailed description of her intimate relation with ur unknown father or (fathers), didn't she?

BTW u won't have to tell us that u prefer beastality. Go and keep f***ing goats, dogs, camels or whatever animal u prefer. Nobody is interested to hear the details of ur nasty lifestyle. Looks like the gene of ur unknown father has indeed messed u up quite badly.

Hey slumdog,
Keep ur stinky nose out of things that doesn't concern u. Looks like u r too desperate to get some of my attention, isn't it? But sadly u r too predictable and certainly aren't worth of my time.
heeey son of dog

say good morning to your sister from me

I reckon it is identical to India. It is rather the antithesis to religious influenced culture.

I'd deign the thought that there is way less Islamic influence in the Upper class in Bangladesh compared to the resurgence of Hinduism in the Indian upper class in some cases...

There is no resurgence of Hinduism in the Upper class. Just amongst the unemployed youth. Out of the millions of celebs in India how many have given pro-hindutva statements?
Religion is at an all time decline amongst the richer folk. It is mostly limited to festivals and marriages.

I asked right question, all of your argument is based on assumption on that woman is illiterate, poor and marginalized. What if woman is educated, doesn't work to earn despite no restriction because her Husband, Father brother etc. are earning good and fulfilling all her needs? Is it bad?

It's a class war.

It just so happens that Hindus make up the maximum proportion of the lower classes.

Cheers, Doc

The broken English of your comment just showing your class and your country’s poor literacy rate.

We didn’t ask opinion from an uneducated person like you rather we are discussing report published by HSBC. Just for info Bangladesh has already overtaken Pakistan despite having 25% lower population.

my question is we look you guys down like slums we abuse you and we insult you guys day night why you guys come here ? lajja nhi aati ?

A dog can bark in the street looking at you but does it change the reality that the dog is still the dog? A poor, uneducated, uncultured, uncivilized group of people has very little option to look down on other people.

Who is pointing out all the number with facts? Me or you? Beside trolling and posting with broken English irrelevant topics what is your cmontribution in this forum?

It IS bad.

As an educated woman she is not using her education to any good (to society as well as her family) and is essentially dependent on her male family members for income. She is being told to be that way by being sweet-talked to. In a place like Pakistan, a working woman is looked down on, but that is changing fast. The time for those hackneyed ideas have come and gone. Even if money is not needed, women should still have any work skill they can fall back on and continue working, regardless of income. Even teaching and working in banks is considered honorable jobs in our countries, especially if it does not involve customer service.

What she does not realize (and there are not very many women who don't realize it), is that situations can change, deaths can happen, and divorces too. Family dynamics are hard to predict. Women dependent on male family-members' wages could be out on the streets before they know it.

This is not the 1930's when you have to support an older woman to save the 'izzat' and family honor. Times are tough, and more so in a place like Pakistan or Bangladesh where there is little leeway to support an unproductive family member. Now millionaires' cases are different, but that is an outlier situation. There are enough family situations where we see a woman being treated in a substandard manner because they are dependent on other people's (males) incomes.

Once a woman is past 40, with no marketable work skills that are in-demand by employers, she will be relegated to very low wage jobs such as teaching kindergarten kids or working at menial positions. No sane intelligent woman would put themselves in a situation like this...and I won't let that happen to any female members of my family by far.

@snow lake your perspectives please.

@waz bhai, could you please do us a favor. Some cleanup needed above. My Thanks in advance.

I simply believe that its a womans right to choose whether she wishes to work or not. Islamically the obligation falls on the men to provide. However having said that it will be a shame to have an education and totally waste it by not contributing to society in some way be it an income related job or a philanthropic venture.

In life eventually men learn there is no point in arguing with a woman. Clearly you havent come across..hell hath fury of a woman scorned
