Bangladesh Army has given relief materials to 360 families in the remote areas of Thanchi and Ruma upazilas of Bandarban.
A helicopter of the Army Aviation carried the relief materials, including rice, lentils, salt, and soap, yesterday noon.
The relief work was supervised by the Bangladesh Army's 24th Infantry Division (Chattogram Cantonment), the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement today.
The relief materials were distributed among 360 Mro families in remote Ching Lok Para, Sakkoi Para, Nishi Para of Ruma upazila and Headman Para, Likree, and Bulu Para under Thanchi upazila, the ISPR statement added.
"Following the request from the local administration, we carried the food and distributed this among the needy people on Thursday noon," Brigade Commander at Bandarban Cantonment Brigadier General Khandaker Md Shahidul Emran told The Daily Star.
"We requested the Bandarban district administration and Bandarban Hill District Council (BHDC) to allocate more food for the people who are most vulnerable," said the brigade commander.
"It is really difficult to send relief to the remote hills," said Md Shafiul Alam, additional deputy commissioner of Bandarban.
"We will send in more relief with help from Bangladesh Army," ADC Shafiul Alam added.
