Bangladesh 2nd largest economy in South Asia

lol currency fluctuates as its normal and only idiots will see nominal GDP, due to fluctuations that is why GDP PPP always matters most, now be happy with temporary currency fluctuations in Pakistan and have a good sleep and pls dont look at GDP PPP or it will burst your bubble:tup:

lol dont forget Pakistan is having higher population growth which will bring down per capita GDP (ppp) as well beside devaluation of currency. In next 5 year or so Bangladesh will overtake Pakistan in terms of per capita GDP (ppp) and some more years to overtake total GDP (ppp) as Pakistan has 25% more population.

Ignore Pakistani bullshit
Bangladesh is looking good and moving fast

However i do agree that we are resource full country...we have more gas than Bangladesh enough hydro potential to cover our production 3 times over(still make 1/3 of electricity from dams built 50yrs ago!!!!) Enough gold coal water cotton.. everything but we have people who are corrupt to the core

Brother Pakistan has great potential. You guys have a solid scientific and industrial base. What you guys need is a re-alignment of public and policy focus to prioritise and maximise public and private investment in the export-oriented manufacturing sector.

P.S.- Please ignore our harsh words towards certain Pakistanis. They are only meant for provoking thought and self-reflection among haters.

. . . .
Is it possible for Bangladesh to become the top 20 economy by 2050 considering this trend?

Social transformation will lead you to the economic transformation. Improve literacy, bring women to the mainstream economy, spend less on unnecessary infra like 5 lane motor ways, import cars and petroleum and spend more on infra which gives you dividend like electricity, economic zones etc. You will be alright. Whatever resource you have are not enough if you just want to rely on them.

IMO 5-6 years seem too optimistic. The damage was done over decades. Empty coffers, increasing debt, water/electricity shortage, declining exports...all of this makes for a very bleak outlook. If in this term PTI can just stop the downward spiral, I would be satisfied with their progress and in my eyes they would deserve to be re-elected.

The direction of the country is already set.
In 5 - 6 years we will start seeing positive outcomes of the seeds we are sowing right now.
We might not become a developed state yet, nor get a head of Bangladesh (on official numbers, in reality Bangladesh is nowhere close to our actual economy), but the distribution of wealth, governance, and attitude of the public would have been converted to where it was back in the 50's and 60's.
And once our people are at that level of optimist brilliance, their ability to move mountains will help us go on a bullet train kind of ride...

Remember, we are down as a system, but not as a people, and the moment the system is fixed, the people will bring in the change.

you are right currency fluctuates due to world trade scenario. But for PK it is all about inflation or deflation.

346GW for us
Understandably so.... considering you have some heavy industries while BD have none.

You basically have 17 times more installed capacity and 8 times more population.

@Hakikat ve Hikmet, no hard feeling, let us celebrate the occasion of BD economy overtaking Pakistan one with the song below!! BD people are hardworking known throughout the world and its economy has outbid the Pakistani one only by our women workforce in the textile sector. My God!!

So, you can expect more upward movement of BD economy when it establishes many mills and factories where men can work. Bd also has an underground parallel economy like your one. So, do not overfocus on it. Just think of our womenfolk has outbid your total economy.

Most probably you have no clue about Pak’s parallel economy!!! Try to read Bloomberg reports...
