Bangalore's racist shame: Manipuri thrashed for not speaking Kannada

..... when i was driving in Local bus and was talking in Hindi..then Conductor told me "Karnataka main rahna hai to Kannada bolna padega"..but the passengers were nice and they managed the situation.

Even the chauvinist conductor explained it to you in Hindi? See why kannidigas are nice guys? Even when they want to be donkeys, they cant....

I believe some people are exaggerating their experience in KA. I have spoken in Hindi even with bus conductors in North Karnataka.

I doubt any hindu on PDF will dare to speak hindi in front of khalistani sikhs IMO.

Very true. I have never faced any issue, inspite of my poor Kannada. Once I spoke (IMO) fluent Kannada to a bus conductor. He smiled and said - 'Theek hain, koi baat nahin...aap hindi mein boliye'. God that was embarassing. :ashamed:
Hahaha that happens to me a lot in Chennai. To be honest I have been staying here for 1.5 years now and have not faced any issue. Always speak in broken english+sign language+hindi.

Interesting couple of incidents though:

1) Two friends of mine from A.P were conversing with each other and bus conductor walks to them and says "You are in Tamil
Nadu don't speak in Telugu" :undecided:

2) A tamil friend recently went to Delhi and he does'nt know Hindi and the auto guy in Gurgaon says "Arey tumhe Hindi nahi aati,
tumhaari rashtriya bhasha hai, kaunse desh se aye ho bhai"

Media finds 'Racism' a better catch word. I was beaten up in Frazer town :D . No media house cried for me. :(

What exactly did you tell in Frazer Town?

BTW Linguistic CHauvanism is very prevalent in Karnataka with Auto Drivers being the most rabid of them. Ordinary people (store-keepers etc.) are not that into it.

Hard to believe it has anything to do with knowing Kannad..

I have lived in Bangalore for a while and knew only English and Hindi. Never faced any problem apart from haggling over prices.

If you speak the broken South Indian language, the person in front starts speaking in Hindi with similar expression, happened to me many times.

There are many Tamils in Bangalore who inspite of living in Bangalore for so many years never learn or speak Kannada. Exotic looking people like NEasteners are easy target for these motherf"#%king bastards.

there was a dictator aurangzeb. Our society is different, it never worked in india and never will.

There is a difference between a religious fanatic and a dictator. Auranzeb falls in the category of the religious fanatic and loony psycho....not a dictator.

My knowledge of tamil is very minuscule.

Anna, tambi, ille, tamil teriyada (most important). I don't even try to speak it lest I offend someone. Also have'nt tried to learn it since I am very lazy and I plan to move out of here in few months.

But again no issues faced since 1.5 yrs. My grandad who was posted in Madras, as it was called in the 1990's, however did face some issues. But things have changed a lot since then, for the good.

I dont know much about what issues South Indians face when they go North, anyone willing to share an account

It reminds me of an experience: While i was travelling from Mysore to bangalore in a KSRTC Volvo, they played a Hindi movie, and 2 passengers made a big hue and cry about it, and according to them on a state govt bus should play only Kannda movies, even if the bus is carrying tourists (mostly non kannadigas), and it become a bit serious and almost got into a fist fight, then the driver switched off the movie and said, No movie in the bus.......

There are people with such sick mentalities..... Shameful act!!!!!!!

Why would any Hindu(Should have been Indian)..speak in hindu to a Kalistani..in India? They dont exist in India...unless they live outside of India...I would absolutely speak to him TAMIL or Telegu though...!

We don't have any such issues here in telangana.A Hindi person can stay here his entire life without ever having the need to learn Telugu.
