Baloch are not traitors: Jamali

Jamali-480x238.jpg

KARACHI - Criticising the country’s politicians and the establishment circles for declaring Baloch as traitors deliberately, chief of the Jamali tribe in Balochistan Sardar Yar Muhammad Khan Jamali has emphasised that Baloch leaders are patriotic and loyal Pakistanis. He stated this at a conference titled “We Deserve Crisis or Growth” held at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Thursday. The elder Jamali is an uncle of former prime minister of Pakistan Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and also the sitting deputy chairman of Senate, Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali. “The Baloch elders are often dubbed traitors but they are not. Politicians and the establishment deliberately declare the Baloch leaders as traitors to achieve their vested interests,” the Jamali chieftain said.

Late Nawab Akbar Bugti, Sardar Ataullah Mengal and Nawab Khair Bukhsh Marri had often been dubbed as traitors by the politicians and rulers of the country, largely considered an injustice with the
Baloch leaders and the people of Balochistan. Regretting that the resources of Balochistan were not being shared with the people of the province, Jamali said that Pakistan is uselessly engaged in the ‘war on terror’, which is actually the war of the United States (US).

The Jamali elder was of the view that first Pakistan fought for many years with Russia in the Afghan war and now the country is engaged in the US-brokered never-ending ‘war on terror’ that is against the national interests and has shattered the economic and political foundations of the country as well as claiming more than 35,000 precious Pakistani lives.

“The rulers should give top priority to developments in the water sector,” he said. “India is diverting the river waters that enter Pakistan but the policymakers are least interested in developing water channels and large dams.”

Blaming international forces for the destabilisation in Balochistan, the Jamali tribe chief urged the government to improve governance in the province, adding that the US had neglected the importance of Balochistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Balochistan Economic Forum President Sardar Shaukat Popalzai said the law and order situation in Balochistan is very critical and the government should make serious efforts to curb killings and bomb blasts in the ravaged province.

“There is enormous potential for investment and growth in Balochistan that should be exploited through hectic efforts and long-term vision,” he said. “The unexploited treasures of coal, gas, metals and marbles can give billions of dollars in revenue if these natural resources are further explored and developed to meet the growing national requirements.”

The CEO of TradeKey – a leading web-based trade portal – Junaid Mansoor said the use of internet should be expanded to augment economic cycle, trade, skills and livelihoods.

“Exports can be doubled through the increased use of internet in the country,” he claimed. “TradeKey is facilitating 100 Pakistani mobile phone importers to buy Chinese mobile phones online at reduced costs.”

Urging businessmen, exporters, importers and youngsters to explore the potential of trade through internet, Mansoor pointed out that his company was the second largest trade portal in China that is an honour for Pakistan.

Baloch people are anything but traitors. They have been the victims of continuous military operations by Pakistan. They have been isolated from the rest of Pakistan, instead of a pencil in their hands they are forced to carry a gun. Pakistan has failed it's own baloch people. Instead of developments in Balochistan, Pakistan is starting military operations, kidnapping Baloch people. If this is not going to anger Balochis then what is?
I can relate to Balochis because my people went through an ethnic cleansing in the 80s and 90s as well and I will never forgive or forget that. But the difference is the Baloch people live in the most underdeveloped areas of Pakistan while we lived in the most developed area of Pakistan.

There was no ethnic cleansing of Mohajirs from Pakistan. You are still the majority in Pakistan's largest city Karachi.

I didn't get the purpose of your post, is it to win the Baloch vote for MQM

.
Every Pakistani knows that the Baloch are patriots - a small minority that is against the majority of the Pakistani Baloch.
Surely it is Jamali's word that we have to take for that or is it yours?.:disagree:

Where were you in the 90s? Definitely not in Karachi infact you've never even been to Karachi. So how can you say there has been no ethnic cleansing. Ask the families of the victims, my family is one of them. Anyone who was under 25, muhajir and from a middle or low income family was good as dead. The bullet riddled bodies thrown out in the streets to rot, the soldiers in APC's hunting down young men. The battle grounds of North Nazimabad, Azizabad, Lines Area, Shah Faisal. Thousands killed and thousands missing. Many breadwinners of their family were killed, young women were raped, children were orphaned. There are a few areas in Karachi where you will not find one single 30 year old man, why? Because they were killed or gone missing in the 90s operation. I can tell you more but I don't want to revisit those wounds.
If you don't believe me go to a library and find the newspaper archives, they will tell you stories like 70 killed in Karachi today, 80 killed etc.

And btw this isn't about MQM or anything, it's about human lives regardless of ethnicity.

Common Balouchs and for that matter people of every ethenic /religious grops are very patrioticPaistanis. It's only a few scumbabs who sell their motherland for a few dollars and exploit the ethinic /religios sentiment of masses and then run away to london/india/or other terrorist heavens like these.

Don't be ann A-- hole. The recorded fact (altaf's open public speeches) is that mqm tried to cleanse karachi of other provinces. If you have not forgotten they almost fought with everyone, Pathans, Punjabis, sindhis, and someime bac with Balouch of lyari. Probably you have not seen Karachi before the menace of mqm was born in 1985 after the accidental death of two sister of Sir syed college in nazimabad with a minibus.

Stfu, how did MQM cleanse the streets of Karachi and Hyderabad? And MQM was not created cuz of the killing of the college girl by the illiterate driver it was created because the second largest ethnic group in Sindh were denied basic rights. The quota system deprived educated Muhajirs and illiterate Sindhi feudals were allowed entrance into Karachi universities while the educated were not allowed. Back in those days there were job ads which said "Sindhis only". Muhajirs were not allowed government jobs. There was a transport and land mafia which was menace. This is why MQM was formed to give rights to Mohajirs who were a majority in Karachi yet treated like crap.
When an unknown party like MQM started winning seats in a city dominated by Jamat e Islami and PPP, the govt decided to start an operation against them. But in the end the truth prevailed and Jinnahpur turned out to be false conspiracy against MQM.

Here's some advice for you go and search up Qasba Aligarh Massacre, Pakka Qila Massacre, 1988 Hyderabad Massacre. 1992 Operation is its own story.

What have the governments of Pakistan been doing for the last six decades? Why have they not made an attempt to exploit the huge mineral wealth in Balochistan when they knew it all along? Pakistan could have tided over all its economic woes and could have become one of the fastest growing economies.

Who is to blame for this?
