Another feather in PAC's cap! Reading the news article, it states Block II JF-17s are being ordered, which will be great as PAC lines will keep humming along while the PAF finalizes and put the Block III through its paces.
Also, I would add that people don't get confused with the wording in the article. The mention of AESA radars are just to state that the aircraft will have it eventually, not that the Azeri jets will have it. Also, since there has been no AESA radar equipped examples, I don't think PAF could have marketed a paper product to them. So it will definitely be Block II aircraft, which is more than enough for their air force that does not face advance threats like the PAF does.
Couple that with costs, it makes sense for them to buy a product that is already in service and its capabilities tested and proven in PAF service. PAC also makes the Chinese radar locally which is be an additional bonus for us in cutting down costs as well as making additional money on the deal as any AESA radar would have to be sourced directly from China at the moment.
All in all a great 2019 ahead for Thunder and Pakistan inshallah
