Azerbaijan's JF-17 Thunder Acquisition: Updates & Discussions

JF-17 with Israeli technology, gonna be interesting to see.
Anyway, can sell some details to India I guess

then wouldn't the cost of Pakistani products also go down during export?
this is the short term effects which occurs due to the depreciation of Rs. against $ but fade quickly because of many reasons such as
- Increase rate of Inflation
- Increase in Cost of doing business
- Increase in Interest rates which increase Financial burden on Capital
- Decrease in Real Rate of Return
- etc. etc.

Air to air weapons with IR are made in Pakistan. Anti radiation weapons were previously Pakistan Brazil joint venture and now we have a Pakistan China jointly developed cm-102 missile with 100 km range. Our stealth cruise missile exceeds max range for export so yes for export jf-17 will give som. The som version for jf-17 is Azerbaijan Turkey and Pakistan's joint development. Pakistan develops cluster bombs for jf-17. Pakistan and Azerbaijan jointly develop anti runway missile for jf-17.

Currently jf-17 export weapons package has more variety of ammunition than any available jet from west or Russia for export.

Consider f-16 or migs or su and compare what sell along their jets is very little ammunition. For example Saudis use tornado for bombing but jf-17 can do the precision bombing it self.

In anti-terrorism missions ever since jf-17 got those targeting pod the jet became a real deal for air to ground role.

Here is pic of Jf-17 air to ground mission with targeting pod and guided munition. Plus air to air defence. This is why jf-17 is cheap because it can bomb and defend its self multi role jet.

My point is we cant earn export earning with any weapons ..to argue about this seems foolish
We missed on JV with brazil and south africa

The air to air missile sales are very rare and mostly done in wartime scenarios. Countries usually buy a certain stock of air to air missiles and hold those stocks for years. For example Iran was holding Phoenix missile stock for very long time for F-14s. The air to ground munition usually make more sales. In the Myanmar order it went through China and they also took Chinese ammunition the anti-radiation and few other missiles are jv and we make money on them.
Air to ground munition is mostly Pakistani other than C802 or GB-6 rest are all Pakistani. The cluster bombs and anti runway and laser guided all are Pakistani made and we make money on them. The new DOU between Pakistan and ROKETSAN will give Pakistan domestically produced air to air bvr so we are making much money on weapons. Yes we need to improve a lot but our advance ammunition program is going good.

I think Pakistan cannot sell RAAD to Azerbaijan because of high range of RA'AD it is not allowed to export and Azebaijan will use SOM.
we can, we r not a member of MTCR nor we ever will be. so why give up on hard cash?

Sure, why not.

As if theirs will use the same systems as ours, they dont. At least two different export configurations exist. The MAF Rubis have config 1 systems. The Azeris, if the order is placed, may see the config 2. That doesnt mean the system is inferior, just different.

Both CAC and PAC have test and evaluation teams for testing and qualifying of systems and weapons. PAF jf-17s use several different subsystems including software, datalinks, comm gear, EW etc.

Thats a bargain man. Its like they are buying from a sunday bazaar.

If it was any other country it would have been $2-3 billion easy.
Less than $ 21M per craft with AESA. Not a bad deal for Azeris.

. .
The quoted price is wrong. Even blk 1 cost more than that. It will go over $30 million a pop with ease.

4 important strategic gains can arise here.

1. Azerbaijan wants to build a new air force independent of the Russian infrastructure "as far as possible". In this direction, the JF-17 platform is a good opportunity for directly Pakistan and indirectly Chinese companies.

2. The expansion of JF-17s in terms of avionics and weapon loads can make its modular feature prominent and can have a positive effect on western markets.

3. Azerbaijan's JF-17s can be test bed for possible future cooperations and sharing capacity between Pakistan and Turkey.

4. Azerbaijan may be a small but first realistic approach as to whether joint training and combat infrastructure can be established.
When will Albania and Bosnia & Hz. will buy JF17s:azn:

dont wet yr pants with excitement.......Israel or its technology isnt coming near to it.

Seeing how Nigeria is paying $60 m per JF-17 Block-II, I think the cost -- i.e. flyaway plus maintenance, support, etc -- of each Block-III will be $75-80 m (of course, total costs will only be realized 10 years down the line).

speaking like a true salesman......but it wont happen....lets just say PAC's salesmen wont be the only ones to allow that to ever happen.

Azerbaijan has so many Israeli weapons, that interaction with those systems will be a deal breaker
