TNI-AU already has SU-27, SU-30 and few F-16s. For such a small AF why is another type of aircraft required ?

I do think our Air Force is capable in maintaining different kind of aircraft and as I said that this typhoon is going to replace F5 squadron ( a different fighter from the planes type that you have mention). There will be maintenance issue but so far they have shown they can handle it. Although in my personal opinion it is better to wait for KFX/IFX and spend the money for other urgent needs.

Our F16 is not few, we have 33 of them and for our region perspective, our fighters number is already quite enough at the moment, not to mention that our Hawk and T50 Golden Eagle are also capable to launch sidewinder.

F-35 started pretty late. F-35, F-22, Typhoon are same generation. F-22 entered service in 2005. Typhoon entered service in 2003. Not much difference in timing.
