Not really PAF has no appetite for another 4TH gen fighter. PAF has made up its mind that it will not induct another type until project azm matures. If PAF can get its hands on more F16s then that is another issue altogether but other than that it is just waste of resources.

So far there is only Indonesia that show interest. @UKBengali bro/sis, does Bangladesh also have interest on the planes.

Indonesia will use the planes for our F 5 squadron if the deal can be achieved, particularly if it is really cheap. The planes still have 20 years operating hours, not bad. All of our F5 planes have all been grounded so the squadron needs the substitution as soon as possible. Buying second hand planes also mean that we will have bigger budget to spend for other pressing needs.

There is reason why austria reject such fighter jet. Don't be a fool again to get taken a ride again. European weapon are overprice and under perform. They are expensive is more of the hype and marketing not becos you think the quality is better or technology is advanced than peer.

Most probably just for interim solution since our F 5 planes also dont have BVR capabilities and IMO our defense planners are waiting KFX/IFX to successfully reach mass production in 2026 (inshaAllah), although upgrading them in Indonesia Aerospace to enable them have BVR capabilities can also be already in the plan, considering our F 16 A/B planes are also undergoing MLU/upgrade in the country currently.

Yup, it is the price that will determine the deal, if it is not cheap enough, there will be no deal at all IMO. Indonesia is also getting economic difficulty during this pandemic and will likely to decrease defense equipment import greatly, so cheap second hand defense equipment import could be more preferred than a new and expensive ones.

Comparing F-5 freedom fighter vs eurotyphoon for lacking of BVR is a bad bad comparison. F-5 fighter is made in the 60s while euro typhoon is in the 90s. For such high price and so called modern jet to lack any BVR capabilities is a joke.

F-5 being cheap and older is totally understandable not to equipped with BVR.
